Dear Hobbits,

We found little bug in GR (*shock!*) and it looks like that for some of us stats (pages, books) stopped updating sometime yesterday (May 1st). Since we can't figure out when that exactly happened, we are not sure if those starting page numbers we wrote down are correct. It also means we can't depend only on GR's page counting system, but we'll have to do calculations ourselves for check up.
What we need from you is to tell us which is first book you've read that counts for RaT. Since we all live in different time zones it's difficult to figure out when RaT started for each of us.
And if you could also at one point during RaT, go to our spreadsheet and check in RaT sheet if all of your read books are accounted for. You'll find that info on first sheet scrolling to the right.

Thank you and enjoy your reading!

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments @md - Did you finish the two books on your challenge shelf? Or did you just put them there in preparation? I didn't see a finished date on them.

message 406: by Melissa (ladybug) (new)

Melissa (ladybug) | 1048 comments I just read a small novelette called Zanna's Gift A Life in Christmases by Orson Scott Card , a Christmas story told from the view of the late 1930s and spans through present day. Would this work for a historical book for the RaT?

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Yes, that should count. Part of it is 50 yrs ago and you only have to connect the book to something 50 yrs ago or more, not necessarily have the whole book set back then.

message 408: by md (new)

md | 83 comments I've finished one of them but I was waiting for my page count to sort itself out before I marked it as read.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments md wrote: "I've finished one of them but I was waiting for my page count to sort itself out before I marked it as read."

Go ahead and mark it as read then post a message here if it is the first book for the RaT. We are going to be keeping a manual list of books read for the RaT as well to make sure page number counts are accurate.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) Turtlecollector wrote: "Yay Ezi, 2 books already! (Do you mind if I shorten your name?)"

No, most people call me Ezin, Ezi or even "E", it's all good.
(*work is slow, so that's a good thing for reading)

message 411: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited May 02, 2013 08:13AM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments @ Melissa - I am seeing your last three books read on your challenge shelf are showing up on currently-reading shelf not on read shelf. Can you check to make sure you have marked them on read shelf? Also the same with Zanna's Gift: A Life in Christmases, but don't put this one on your shelf it only counts for the RaT.

message 412: by Melissa (ladybug) (new)

Melissa (ladybug) | 1048 comments I haven't marked them read yet. I usually go and check all the challenges I am doing at the moment then mark them read. That way, I am able to keep up. lol. I will be marking them read today, though.

message 413: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited May 02, 2013 08:51AM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments @ Melissa - You will need to mark the paperback version read of Prague Winter A Personal Story of Remembrance and War, 1937-1948 by Madeleine Albright for it to count to be fair according to LK and Sonia in the RaT thread.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "I haven't marked them read yet. I usually go and check all the challenges I am doing at the moment then mark them read. That way, I am able to keep up. lol. I will be marking them read today, though."

Great, I am updating your RaT first book to be Zanna's Gift A Life in Christmases by Orson Scott Card

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments I am working on the update for the RaT in Post #5 of this thread and here Link to Hobbit Games.

It is a work in progress as we see how page number counts are going to work or not, but eventually I will add your page progress as well as your books. Please feel free to check it out and repost something I don't have on there yet, so I can remember to add it.

RaT mini challenge

Mini-Challenge #2: “Behind Enemy Lines”

Team Members are doing “reconnaissance” and bringing back intel on the enemy's books! Sneak into another team's “view books: read”* in their challenge page and select any book listed that catches your fancy.

Post a bookcover link to said book and state the Team & member from which it came! State different reasons why you are posting that bookcover. Ideas, such as:
• Gave the same star rating as I did.
• I want to read it!
• They have a different bookcover - which I prefer to mine.
• Loved their review, etc.**

*Feel free to use the Google Team Assignments Round II Spreadsheet to get an overall lay of the land. Those coded in aqua are set to "private."
**Please respect the taste and genre of other readers. This in NOT an exercise in bashing.

Was that that test book? Could you please check if there is read date in it? It shows in your challenge as finished and gives us wrong numbers.

Yes, I know. I saw your list and there were authors I read as well. I went and put them on hold for me at my library and I already got them. I needed some lighter reads to counteract my two big books. It is very difficult for me to keep my attention on them. Although, I already have 1000 pgs read in other books and only about 50/2000 of the big books,so I am not as worried about getting the big ones finished during the RaT.

I love word puzzles! But if someone else wants to that's fine. I wouldn't be able to do it until late tonight(only noon for me right now) anyway and I feel as if I have been a bit selfish with doing the other word puzzles.

Have snuck in reading 10 more pages while at work so far today. Have 30 more min till my lunch break when I plan to read more of Infinite Jest.

Lisa Kleypas is wonderful on audio...well, only if read by Rosalyn Landor.
Sookie STackhous & Elemental Assassin series are also Audio only for me. LOVE the narrators.

Harry Potter--I am sticking to HBO for that :)

True! I just love her, Ezin. The only voice she did that I didn't like was Harry in Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas - one of my favorite books. I just ♥Harry♥... but he had a deep baritone voice that she just can't pull off, even as talented as she is.

It's funny you mentioned this book, that book is in my audible cart.
Why did LK stop writing HRs? I read one of her contemporary romances, and I didn't enjoy it as much
