Actually this post (#278) is kind of celebration :) I just got word from Sonia that it works and we secured first 5 points for RaT. :) (Sonia asked us to keep quiet until she puts up schedule and/or spreadsheet)
Sorry to keep you guys out of it, but we had few ideas and we didn't want 'competition' to see them.
Okay, please do not add any books for the next two hours. Page counts are being recorded before the start of the Read-a-Thon.

I had to stop reading about 3h ago or I would finish RaT book too soon :)
Yep. ANY books marked as read for the next 11 days will count for the Read-a-Thon. Page count does not matter for the Read-a-Thon, but do not put it on your shelf for the team total unless it has more than 160 pages. Here is the link to the spreadsheet again if you want to see what your starting page count is.Read-a-Thon Spreadsheet
Have fun reading!

Can't think who that might be.
Well you can get on and finish it now. I had to take a break from reading mine, it was getting a bit gruesome
Just finished
--it's a historical & cover is blue. (351 pages)I am starting
(296 pages), which has another edition with a blue cover---
I think I need to increase the total page numbers I plan to read

Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: I am starting

I am not sure if it matters to you to have the exact edition of the book you used marked as read. There is a lot of time left and you can make that decision later if you want. You do not have to read both books and I can count that first book under whichever column you prefer.
I'm a little confused. I thought we were to read as many books that are blue covered and/or historical themed for bonus points...am I confused?(sorry, I am a little slow at times--i will go and re-read instructions)
Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "I'm a little confused. I thought we were to read as many books that are blue covered and/or historical themed for bonus points"Yes, as a team. But for one member only one of each counts.
Don't worry about confusion. There was a lot of questions about that in RaT thread. And maybe we didn't made it clear enough. Sometimes I think that if I get something, everyone else must too. :)
Ok.thanks because I read Theme: historical
*1 point per book read
◈ Cover: blue
*1 point per book read
and I thought that meant we should strive to read as many blue books and as many HRs we could.
So, what you are saying is that my book In Bed with a Highlander will either count as HR or Blue cover requirement. If I choose blue cover, then I don't have to read anymore blue covers since they won't count anymore, but I still need to read HR themed books, right?
Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "Ok.thanks because I read Theme: historical

That's right, you would need to read one HR book to count for that point.
That pointing means - if team has 10 members and 4 members read theme/cover, than they get 4 points. If 5 members read theme/cover, they don't get 1 point per book any more, but as 50% of team they get 30 points and if all 10 read theme/cover they get 50 points. Now I have to admit I'm not sure how many points it is if 7 members read it. Maybe 32 (30 for 50% and 2 for other members).
❀Tea❀ wrote: "Now I have to admit I'm not sure how many points it is if 7 members read it...."That's not going to matter because we are ALL going to read our Blue cover book and our HR book!

Love that enthusiasm, but sadly no. Few members are reading only one book.
That's why we were saying that you don't need to read theme or cover book. Just read what you want.
❀Tea❀ wrote: "So are you counting Highlander as theme or cover book? :) Or need more time to decide?"I would like to count it as my Historical. I have 3 other blue books coming up on my May Starter plan

Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "I would like to count it as my Historical. I have 3 other blue books coming up on my May Start..."OK I'll put it down as soon as I finish my book (20 pg left) :)
Nice book choices :)

thank you. I am a nut job...already working on June's starter plan
I received message that I need to friend either this person or a group person to verify page numbers for the RaT? What is that about?
Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "I received message that I need to friend either this person or a group person to verify page numbers for the RaT? What is that about?"What person?
If Sonia she's one of the moderators here and she's handling RaT.
As for group I believe they mean Mods account
I suggest you go for Mods account. That way for any future challenge you won't need to friend someone else on mod-team.
(Not to mention, you can always unfriend that person after challenge finishes if you want ☺)
Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "I received message that I need to friend either this person or a group person to verify page numbers for the RaT? What is that about?"Friend who?
Where to find your page count...Go to your profile page. Under your shelves you'll see part Cloud | Stats | More…. Click on stats and then when you get that go to pages.
Borrowing from RaT thread :D

Yes it was Sonya. I just went and requested mod account as friend. It is getting very complecated for me :-[ oh well :)
Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "Oops, lol tea, I actually had deleated that message. lol x)"It's OK. I'll leave pics here in case anyone else is interested to see page count (and didn't know where to find it ☺)

Sorry
Sorry if I sounded upset. I am not nor am I normally such a ditz. My only excuse is I had to drive my brother and father 3 1/2 hour to airport, stop and do shopping then drive back 3 1/2 hours home and with the heat here, I am really feeling out of sorts. Thank you Tea and Ezin. ;)
For those who want to take break from reading, mods posted first mini-challenge. You don't have to play if you don't want to. There is no time limit (or better to say mini-challenge finishes when RaT finishes). You can do them by any order, as many times as you want, as long as you use the tag: Mini-Challenge #number __________________________
Mini-Challenge #1:Green with Envy
May's birthstone is the emerald. Find five books on your shelves that are at least 50% green. Take a picture and post it on the thread.
Option:Use the add book tool from GoodReads to post the books
Sugested by Team Atomic Tangerine
RaT mini-games are played HERE
md wrote: "I got a friend request the other day. Do I have to add them?"From whom? If Mod account you don't have to add them, but it would make things easier to mods during challenges to check on things.
Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "I received message that I need to friend either this person or a group person to verify page numbers for the RaT? What is that about?"Sorry, I didn't know she did that or I would have warned you. I gave her your starting page numbers when I saw the spreadsheet was blank and she fixed it early this morning.
md wrote: "Rebecca. Not a mod according to the group list, I added the Mod account for round I"No, you don't have to add her. She is only helping mods. If needed, she can get info from our spreadsheet (it regularly updated ☺)
I also received request from rebecca a few days ago. She said wanted to be friend to help mods to check books we have read. Page counts, I think. =)
That is another reason I was so suprised to receive the message from Sonya. That an the fact I am friends with lisa kay. :)
Melissa (ladybug) wrote: "That is another reason I was so suprised to receive the message from Sonya. That an the fact I am friends with lisa kay. :)"There are several mods and they are all 'in charge' for different challenges. RaT is Sonia's so she is checking things. Whole Tower team is LK's so she is in charge of checking shelves and books pages (same thing captains are doing).
It would be to complicated for Sonia to ask LK to check your page count. It's easier for her to send friend request. :D
❀Tea❀, thank you for clarifying things!
Yes, Melissa (ladybug), Rebecca (NJ) is doing the critically important weekly Google Spreadsheet Sunday Update . (Also done at end-of-month.) It is, like 17 sheets long!
Please do NOT feel you have to add her. Though it would make things easier... You would be surprised how many times people make - and unmake their bookshelves "private," so we have developed a system to work around it. ☺

**Pssst** There are even a couple of members who do NOT "friend" their Captains... so I check their shelves for them. Just two, though...I think. ☺

I don't mind anyone sending a friend request, I just would prefer they sent because they wanted to be friends and interact more than just for a certain challenge. :D I did receive a friend request from Sonya and I am delighted to be her friend. :D Please don't anyone be upset with me. I also wasn't complaining about anyone asking to be my friend. As I said above, I was just out of sorts today and didn't mean to cause any trouble. Everyone, please have fun reading books. I know I am!P.S. I was just letting md know that I also had received a request from Rebecca and that it had confused me. I am good now, I know the reason for different request with asking for friend because of challenge. No problem. :D
Not a problem, Melissa. Rebecca was very concerned about that same issue and hesitated to send friend requests. It was I who encouraged her to do so, saying, "It couldn't hurt."
Glad you are enjoying thechaos fun of the Tower Teams Reading Challenge.
Glad you are enjoying the
@ Melissa - I am definitely not upset. You read many similar books to me and there are many books on your shelves I would like to read and will put on my TBR. I am always willing to discuss one that I have read with you. Also, you seem to read a lot of children's books and YA and I am always looking for new books to suggest to my niece and nephew(8 1/2 and 10 yrs old respectively). Sometimes it is hard to find something that will interest them.
