Yes, they do. And next week after I tally up all the cupcakes we've earned this month, I will be redeeming more of them for BAPs.
[bookcover Bookcover:James:James Potter and the Curse of the Gate Keeper|6333646] currently reading ...on chapter #2. Jenny. Looking forward to Labor Day ...:)
I missed Ezi last week, but she has reached 100 books! Congratulations!Congratulations to Melissa this week for reaching 100 books!
I am going to tell the mods who we have participating in the September challenge. This is who I have listed for wanting to participate with the total goals to be reached:
participants version 7% 8,33% 9,9% read
Melissa 1 17 20 24
Tea 1 12 15 18
Ezi 1 17 20 24
TC 1 22 26 31
Sanz 1 3 4 4
md 1 1 1 1

Total 72 86 102
You have until September 20th to decide not to participate, otherwise your individual totals will still be included in the team goals to be reached. It is the team totals that are important and not the individual totals. These individual totals were only calculated as a basis for finding a team goal. However, only books read by participating members will be counted, so it will be easier for the team to reach the total goal if members read close to their individual goals.
The team totals are what must be reached in order to earn BAPs regardless of how many books each member reads. If you do not end up reading as many books as you thought, but other members have read more than they thought, the team goals can still be reached.
EDIT: You can also decide to participate until September 30, if you are not sure right now.
You are not required to participate
Dee wrote: "Would we get points if I were in the Book a Day challenge?"Since your individual goals says 0, it won't add to the team total of books that need to be read. However, if you participate, any books you read will be counted toward the team goal to be reached. This could help the team reach a higher goal for more BAPs.

Thanks!
Way to go Melissa!
Dee wrote: "I'm confused...where does my individual goal say 0?"The mods figured out percentages for everyone and Tea posted them here in this post. They are also in the mods Sunday Update spreadsheet.
The individual goals were a percentage of your total goal(rounded down) in order to determine how many books the team needed to read total in September. They will add up the totals from the participating members only and that will be the number of books for the team to read during the month. Only books from participating members will count.
If a participating team member cannot/does not read as many as their individual goal says, another participating member can read more to make up for them. In other words, once the total number of books needed is determined, it doesn't matter how many books a specific member reads as long as the total is reached.
There are three different levels to be reached in order earn BAPs, so the more books we read the more BAPs we can earn as a team.
7% read will earn 5 BAPs
8.33% will earn 7 BAPs
9.9% will earn 9 BAPs
Okay so that is for the monthly Challenges only correct? If that is the case, then I understand now. I don't compete in the monthly challenges. The Book a Day challenge is year long from date when we start. Thanks for taking a moment to explain. :)
The Book a Day challenge is a regular NBRC challenge that lasts a whole year. The mods are also using it as a basis for the September Mod challenge for the Tower Teams. Some of the books we read in September will need to be able to fit in that challenge in order to earn the BAPs, but you do not need to actually participate in that challenge individually. We also have to read some books that will fit in an A to Z challenge, and a spell-out challenge. If you want to participate, you can just read whatever you want like usual and I will put any book you finish in September where it will fit.You do not need to participate, just keep up your good reading and tag books as normal. They will count for the team total but not for the specific Mod Challenge for BAPs in that case.
Question Fearless leaders:Can you use the same books in both the Book a Day challenge and the animal alphabets challenge?
Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "Question Fearless leaders:Can you use the same books in both the Book a Day challenge and the animal alphabets challenge?"
If you are personally doing the challenges, you can use books for both. In the September Mod challenge, we can only use a book in one of the three challenges.
Please bear with me for the next few days as I get everything updated and all your questions answered. Tea lost her internet and isn't sure when she will have it back, so I will be slower without her help.

AWESOME GUYS ,so congrats for 100 books-read mark .Jenny
Would you like to participate Jenny? I can add you to the list and all you would have to do is finish books in September. I can put them into the correct category if you have trouble figuring it out. It is mostly spell out with titles and authors so it should be fairly easy.

Ok. Thanks

Until we figure out what is wrong and how to fix it, I'll be in and out (mostly out probably).
I'll try to help while I'm here as much as I can.
Turtlecollector wrote: "Congratulations to Melissa this week for reaching 100 books!"Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron: "Good job Melissa--on puzzle 126 :)"
Thank you! Both! :D
Ezinwanyi -- Good job on puzzle #125. :D
Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "Just trying to get all the cupcakes i can, I'm greedy like that :)"As long as you exercise regularly. We don't won't those cupcakes to go to your hips. ☺
Good work ladies. ;)
Dee wrote: "I'm confused...where does my individual goal say 0?"
Dee, your goal is zero because your yearly goal is 10 (and there are 12 months in the year), and we rounded down. I guess you are the Hobbits secret weapon.

Steven wrote: "No idea how you read so many at one time!"You probably don't want to see my list then. I haven't had time to post it here for a little bit, but it can be worse than hers.
foflmbo :DSome books I read at the same time and they take me days to read (Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas) and others I forgo sleep to read such as (Kiss Me If You Dare) :D
I can handle two, maybe three at once... but if I have 7 or 8 going, I'd never feel like I was making progress in any of them! hehe
Lol I'm confused again...Ived read like 6 already?!? do I need to just read and not worry? Just want to carry my weight
Sorry, Dee, I didn't mean to confuse you, if you're talking about the September Challenge. Yes, just read. ☺.
Dee wrote: "Lol I'm confused again...Ived read like 6 already?!? do I need to just read and not worry? Just want to carry my weight"Just read and let us worry about it. ☺
Do you want to participate in September challenge?
All I need is yes or no :D
Steven wrote: "I can handle two, maybe three at once... but if I have 7 or 8 going, I'd never feel like I was making progress in any of them! hehe"that can happen to me also, but looking at my current reads it could go like this:
Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind is a self help/devotion like book. I read a chapter maybe every day or so
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking same as above
Orlando Not really a fan of hers, but I take her chapters slow and try to understand what she is even talking about.
Then there are the ones that are "quick" reads. They belong in children or young adult genre and I can read in just a couple hours or so. So, easy! right? lol
@Turtlecollector For sure you read a lot. I about drop my jaw sometimes. :D It was sure good to find someone else who reads voraciously like me. lol
Hmmm.... maybe I could handle that, if the book was split into daily sections and I didn't want to do more than the daily allotment.Of course, I try to do that with buddy reads, and end up WAY ahead or WAY behind! X)
Steven wrote: "Of course, I try to do that with buddy reads, and end up WAY ahead or WAY behind! X) "I know that feeling. I was in few BRs here and all of them were finished few days behind. ☺
