It is our theme, as long as we can connect a book to our theme I think it should work. Part of the explanation was characters from 50 yrs ago and those vampires are like time travelers. They live a long time and have to relocate and completely start over in each new 'generation' so people don't realize they aren't really aging or from a different century.

While I have been tracking people who have posted NO book at all, I have NOT been tracking those who have NOT posted books since first joining. It is important that you give me this information, as I believe we have one or two bogus accounts.

Thank you.

No, not the show. Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris released today and I am already 1/3rd way into my audiobook

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Well, then I'll just continue reading. :D
Does it deserve to be added to to-read list?
*I'm fresh in vampire waters*

Have you decided about changing your page goal for RaT?

Sighing--books 1-7 in the series were excellent, it got a little muddled in the middle. I will let you know if the series ends on a good note.

Yes...I wish to change my reading goal to 3000 pages.

surely it took you a long time to get through. Good thing you didn't do the audio version or you would have been listening for quite a while
:)

Halfway through Sookie!

You have no idea! I already started thinking on giving it up since it is taking me so long to finish it. It started to mess with my other reading. I even had to increase page goal when I discovered I'll finish it soon. :D

How's Sookie so far?

Deadline for changing goals or join the Read-a-Thon ends in 15 hours

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments I have given up on finishing Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace during the RaT, I just can't concentrate on it so I only have 138 pgs read in 6 days. I read 6 1/2 other books instead. On the other hand, I started World Without End (The Pillars of the Earth, #2) by Ken Follett Monday morning and read 500 pages in one day. This book I am really enjoying although I get sooooo mad at the prior of Kingsbridge. I should have it finished by the end of tomorrow as well as the last 200 pages of The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult .

I increased my goal to 4000 since I will reach my goal tomorrow and I will still have 3 full days left of the RaT.

message 516: by [deleted user] (new)

Phew ! Thank god I saw this now , I will be changing my page goal, I finished two more books , still marked as currently reading because I need to write a review , will let you know revised goal in an hour or so!

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments All right Karen, I look forward to seeing what your new goal is.

message 518: by [deleted user] (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments I still have 300 pgs left but I like it so much I am still up at midnight reading it when I have a meeting at work at 8:30am.

RaT mini challenge

Mini-Challenge #10: Uncover the cover

How important are book covers for you? Would you read a book if you don't like the cover at all even if it sounds interesting? Or would you read a book just because you like its cover but the content doesn't much appeal to you?

message 526: by joanne (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) Just wondering if we could do the same thing for me as we did for Jenny - along the same lines of the vampire rule, some of the main characters in both The Iron Daughter and The Iron Queen are centuries old...

message 527: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) Finished Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris (Pages 338) & Eden (Eden #1) by Janelle Stalder (Pages 236)

...almost done with Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2) by Wendy Higgins .

message 528: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) Finished Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2) by Wendy Higgins . 371 pages

Now listening to Dearly, Departed (Gone With the Respiration, #1) by Lia Habel and reading Dark Light (Dark Light, #1) by S.L. Jennings

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Finished The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult and World Without End (The Pillars of the Earth, #2) by Ken Follett

Not sure yet exactly what I will start next but probably Black Coffee (Hercule Poirot #7) by Agatha Christie and My Abandonment by Peter Rock and The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, #3) by Julie Kagawa . I am going to get some ice cream and then settle down with the next book for a few hours. I hope to get these three books finished by tomorrow night. They should be easy reads for me and I am planning late nights for the next 3 days with only a few hours of sleep to get in as many books as possible.

On Friday I am going to start Under the Dome by Stephen King for another team challenge and I think if I concentrate on it for two days, I can finish it before the end of the RaT as well. *fingers crossed*

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Reminder:

Due to the page stats acting a little weird, all books must be on your read shelf to count for the RaT. We will be adding up pages from the shelf to get an accurate count for the RaT.

72 more hours to go! Keep on reading.

how are we doing? As far as achieving our goals as Team Hobbit? I hope we are faring well.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments From last night's update:

9:30pm PDT May 8, 2013 - 11744/16850
Ezinwanyi - 2599/3000

Tea - 2147/3000

Turtlecollector - 3561/4000

Jojiwoji - 1383/2000

Melissa - 350/1000

Karen - 743/1500

Jenny - 744/300

md - 217/300

Melissa has two more books finished but not on the update yet. Karen has more books finished but has not been able to log in to an actual computer yet to tag them I think. Sanz, Dee and Gemma have not checked in yet with the one book each of them was reading.

I think this is accurate. If anyone sees something wrong please post it here.

Great, Dee. Are you enjoying the book? It keeps getting recommended to me but I keep putting it off because it is so long.
