Denise (eendenise) Yeah what would you do? Realize buying all books you want doesn't cost a million and don't start about charity cos it's a good thing but not so interesting to read lol :p

LOL! I think I'm so boring when it comes to money! All I really want is to settle down somewhere quiet with my wife, Adele, and whole bunch of cats and dogs, and write and read and enjoy life. It's not too different to what I do now hah! But if I had that kind of money, I'd at least be able to buy a small house and support us. But I definitely wouldn't make any other major purchases :)

message 3: by Denise (new)

Denise (eendenise) Haha hmm I've a whole plan worked out if I would ever have more than a million lol. I will stalk the script during a tour. Every gig, every festival, every country. Buy lots of music, movies and books. Do the study to become a pilot. Buy a house, not to big but big enough for my own library like in Beauty and The Beast but smaller then that one, travel around the world and go to Disney world with this girl who loves Disney as much as I do and go to Disneyland with all people I like... (:

I'm with you, David! I pretty much have everything I want already. Perfect little house, great family, ONE perfect dog, all the books I can read! Maybe I would travel more and work less!

Hey that sounds pretty good too!

message 7: by Lola (new)

Lola (lolasreviews) | 563 comments I think I would buy a house in Germany somewhere with lots of forest around it. It's my dream to live somewhere like that. I don't want a big house, just big enough for me and my boyfriend and a room for my books. More space only means more space to clean and I don't even have enough furniture to fill up more rooms. I also would buy an awesome cat, maybe one of the more expensive breeds. And ofcourse I would buy some books, but there is a also a limit on how fast I can read, so buying lots of books also has a limit. And I would buy all Davids books signed :). And the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong with the nicer covers. And I would be carefull with the rest of the money I guess, live off it, so I don't have to work too much.

message 8: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 17 comments I've actually pondered this before. I don't want too much money because I don't want the crazy friends and family pestering or worrying about my family's safety. (Isn't it strange the things you worry about when the chances of getting tons of money is pretty much zero?) Just enough money to open a small book store (used & new books) with a coffee shop without ever having to worry if it'll make money or not. Maybe a new house or fix up the current one and get a cleaning service since I'll be busy at my book store.

message 9: by Denise (new)

Denise (eendenise) I would work. But I would become a pilot cos I wouldn't have to worry if I find work or not and if I find work as a pilot I would have a lot of spare time. I think I would also publish my own book if I have written a complete story haha. The idea of a bookstore I like as well. How awesome will it be to have a bookstore in London with this old vintage look and all secondhand books in this bookcase which forms a half circle and only two meters between two cases which forms the entrance to where you have all new books. And with a ladder against the shelves... A corner with a fireplace and cute sofa's where you are allowed to read the books in the store and can drink coffee or tea. But that corner has to be higher then the floor... You know what I mean? Haha

message 10: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 13 comments I would buy a house and pay off my student loans... But that is just small portion. I would not work and go back to school for personal training and nutrition. I would spend all my extra time training for triathalons and reading. (difference would be no worry for money on my two hobbies! That would be nice...) Other then that i would invest the vast majority (fiance is the career i would be giving up to go back to school lol)

Franchessca | 6 comments I would travel the world for a year or two. I want to see all the ancient and beautiful wonders that the earth has to offer. And then When it was time to settle down, I'd want to find a beautiful plot of land here in England and build a beautiful house. With hidden passages and such. Would be epic.

message 13: by Ruby (last edited Apr 01, 2013 12:24PM) (new)

Ruby Black (ruby_black) my boring answer is I've no clue, now that I wrote that I thinking some essentials might be in order: house, a motorcycle, and new teched-up computers (for work - and yes I'll need more than 1 for sure ;).

But for sure, I would share the wealth.

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I would buy each of my sons a house, put some money in trust for my grandkids' education, buy myself a condo (don't like taking care of lawns...oh, wait, I could hire someone..still would prefer a condo), then travel with the rest of it, all over the world. With a friend whose way I would pay. I would of course buy a new car, new clothes, new computer, etc. I could also afford to have a dog or two. Now, where is that 220 million? Oh, yeah, someone else won it....of course!

message 18: by Ruby (new)

Ruby Black (ruby_black) Used to think buying was fun in my teens - somewhere along the way I got kind of boring and all I want is a house with lots of greenery and a lake/river/ocean near by. Simple things are the best aren't they.

message 19: by Yzabel (new)

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 60 comments I'd definitely buy a flat or a house for my parents—they've had their share of hard times, and owing something at last, now that's something i'd happily give them.

A flat for me in London, too. With so much money, flying there on a whim would be a breeze.

All the books and super-shiz computer and stuff I'd want, of course. And probably a lot in savings, in case of, and in investments (now we don't want to pay too many taxes on money we're just sitting on, right :p).

I don't think I could ever spend it all. But the idea of having all money for whatever I want to do would be nice..

message 23: by Yzabel (new)

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 60 comments Frankly, I'm not sure I'd know how to spend it, apart from what I've already mentioned (which is already a lot). I think what I'd actually really enjoy and treasure about so much money would be the feeling of being finally free. Free from going where I want, free from leaving my job, free from pursuing new studies... whatever.

They say money can't buy happiness, but seriously, guys, when you DON'T have to worry about money, a lot of things in life become much, much less stressful and worrying.

"They" are wrong: Money CAN buy happiness. Those who say it can't already have it I think.

message 26: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments No, money can't buy happiness (and this is from someone who doesn't havbe much of it). Money can buy things that might make you happy, but you can't buy true happiness with money. You can be happy and have no money, so it stands to reason it's not money that buys it.

message 27: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I have never had much money and many times money would have made me happy. So we shall have to agree to disagree. You can pay rent, buy food, gas for your car, the car itself, travel. The things money can't buy are pretty much up to one's own making. Even health, to a certain extent. But health is really the one thing you can't buy. Can you buy love? Well, maybe not, but you can with money afford to get out and meet people if that is your wish.

message 28: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments Peace of mind and happiness are different things.

But, as you say, we'll have to agree to disagree.

message 29: by tcb4ts (new)

tcb4ts | 12 comments i'd split into thirds; 1 third to cancer research, 1 third to spend on food, drink and clothing for hungry/homeless, and the last third on things i need for my organisation (spreading messages across, through dance, expresive art and what other way we can)

message 30: by Joanna Marie (new)

Joanna Marie (joannacapats) I'll split as well: 5 million each for our town churches, orphanages, special children organizations, and select non-government organizations.

I'll give my grandma Dita and grandpa Elliong 10 million each.

I'll give my parents 10 million each.

I'll give my siblings 10 million each.

I'll give my needy relatives 5 million each.

Then I'll invest 1/3 to mutual funds and real estate and for my future children's insurances. Then the rest are for traveling as well. :)

About this, I think money can help you to be happy, but it also can go the other way around. I asked this question to a clasmate and he'ld only buy an huge computer for himself and a couple of friends so they can game. But I don't think that's someone that will make you happy in the end. 'Cos I'n addicted to internet -let's be honest haha- but it isn't a place where I find happiness. Sure there are moments of it, but that are the moment when friends make me laugh or I'm enjoying a music video from The Script. And sure you can be happy without money, but when you worry about something... Well at least when I do, I can't be as happy as I would be without worries. Having all money you need, not especially in these amounts, sure will make it easier to enjoy everything.

Bluh it's hard to explain what's on my mind in English haha.

Peace of mind and happiness is paying for your shelter, food, clothes, children's food and shelter and clothes and being able to buy them Xmas presents, etc. That is peace of mind and happiness to me.

I had problems in high school with english. I barely made it. When I started university all my books where in english and I started reading books for fun in english, that really improved my english. Although sometimes it is still obvious I am not a native speaker. And be glad you never hear me talk in english, I am much better with writing and reading english than talking.

message 43: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Nacole (brandynacole) With charities aside, and taking care of my parent's debt along with my own, I would be wise with some of it but also live a little. That's the point of life, right, to live. So, after putting a good sum into an interest drawing savings account, I would spend, spend, spend. I would buy vacation homes around the world. One on a beach, one near a ski resort, etc. Then it's on to the toys. New Jeep, four-wheelers (and more than the two we share now. we each would have our own), a boat, jet-ski, and my current Jeep would be spruced up :)
There's more but I'll leave it at that! Lol. I'm a spender I guess

message 44: by Chris (new)

Chris Sorensen (csorensen) | 218 comments Figure out how much needed to be invested so I could make enough every year to live comfortably. Would continue to write and share my stories and experiences. Probably create some scholarships. Maybe open a used bookstore with a little cafe for people to hang out and talk about books. Would be able to travel - like crazy - and build wonderful memories with my wife and children. I would get a new house and then FINALLY get that 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee I've always wanted.
