Game of thrones books way too similar to the show

Well, the person who started it felt the books were too similar to the show, but now feels that the books are better than the show. Saw the first season before reading it, now reading all the books and liking them better. Common story, the same thing all converts go through ;)

This topic line amazed me. Being "too much like the book" is something I've NEVER hear complianed about before. But the way the conversation flowed was awesome.

I am a big believer that the film/tv adaptation of a book should be as similar as possible. The fans fell in love with the books so it is only natural to want to see it in action. Why take away what the fans love?
