Joe | 2 comments I was on vacation at a rental home last summer, read a book left there I liked and now can't remember the title or author. It was a mystery / crime book, the first in a series about a down on his luck private eye that took place in the 1930's or 40's. I do remember each book in the series included a famous actor / actress from that era.

The premise of this book is a friend of his who worked at a movie production company gave him a job delivering a ransom for some embarrassing photos and it turned into a murder mystery.

Other things I remember: he had an ex-wife who really didn't like him and he shared his office with a dentist.

Any ideas what the book or author are? It's driving me crazy.

Thanks,

Joe

One of my favorite series is Stuart Kaminsky's Toby Peters books.
