I know! I was one of those librarians.

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments I was shocked when I logged on tonight and saw the announcement. After all that brew-ha-ha last year about Goodreads breaking all ties with Amazon, this just came out of left field.

Any conspiracy theorists out there?

I don't mind as long as they remain separate entities. Some comments are wanting reviews to be posted on both sites - I don't think I'd like that. I don't use amazon very much, not because I have anything against them, just because I prefer the hands on buying experience. But that doesn't mean I want them to have the ability to edit my reviews because they don;t like what I've said. That is what I thought, not what you'd like me to think.

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Amazon bought Audible last year and there has been little discernible difference except for the addition of whispersync. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments I am withholding judgement as well, but I don't really understand why Amazon has to own all the things. If they change things, I will be annoyed. One of the things I love about goodreads is it's impartiality from Amazon.

But interestingly Library Thing is offering free accounts wih them this weekend for Goodreads refugees. http://www.librarything.com/blogs/lib... I'm not encouraging people to leave, but it is an interesting thing to check out. I have always wanted to play with their stats functions. I am such a stats nerd.
