Episode 69: How I banish my books

LOL, "gifts of some king" sounds very intriguing indeed. The king must have good taste! I also have books from my childhood. Recently, I have been trying to track down some of the more obscure ones so that I will still have them when I am older and I can look back over them again. I added them to my favorites on Goodreads too--interesting to also have children's lit in there!
I have one large book shelf in my apartment and one small one which used to be my nightstand (I only filled it with books I had yet to read, but wanted to) which is now my Cookbook shelf. One large book case for an avid reader isn't really enough, and my other half does not quite understand this. Anywhoo, cleaning out the bookshelf means purging myself of a) books I have read and am ready to pass on, b) books I have passed on more than twice, c) duplicates, d) anything I may get good money for that isn't priceless to me. I should have a shelf only for my very favorite novels...I will work on that.
I can understand why the other half does not like my book shelf much because the books are double stacked, or shall I say "stashed". You can hardly see what is hiding back there anyways! It's hard sometimes to get rid of a book I liked but am not too attached too, I think because I appreciate the memory of that book. If it is a book I come back to for quotes often or just to experience again, I keep it. If not...it's time to go.
