The Not a Book Club Club discussion
Introduction & Welcome Thread
That reminds me, are we doing Sullivan's First Empire? Not sure if there's a firm date for its release or not. Shows June 28 on GR
I'll be doing First Empire, so I'm sure if there is a few of us doing it, we'll do it. A bit early to schedule though.

Hello everyone!I am Anna from Moscow. I practise my english by reading books and chatting:) You are welcome!
Hi, I am Henry Arthur and have been reading Sci fi and other good books for eons but, being older I am not up on threads and stuff. Hope I can keep up. I liked most of Azimov,Niven, Pohl, AE van Voght, Dune, Jordan's series, Niven etc and mainstream Steinbeck, Sinclair Lewis(?spelling) Hemingway; and even tried to write one I now have on smashwords and will keep quiet about unless asked. Ask???. Recently read Oliver by Dickens and loved it again. Hate Jane Austin, not her ability but the soc. she writes about as though it were a good thing to "know your place". Anyway..I hope you all and I will enjoy this club.

Ahh, Another brilliant young person who can understand more than one language while I have still have problems with my "native" tongue. Welcome, I am new too so we can learn together.
I am all wrapped up in politics now so my participation will probably be sporadic until after November. i think Age of the Pussyfoot by Kornbluth or Pohl, I forget, was one of best guesses about the future, that is now.
Hi, I am Simona and I decided to join this group because while I was scrolling around I realized that the books mentioned in your threads are the ones I have read/am reading/am going to read...:)I am Italian, so please forgive me if sometimes I write in a...ahem...peculiar language.

Hi, I'm Christine, and have just joined. I saw this club listed ander my GR friend Andy's clubs, and liked the lack of rules, and the apparent lack of pressure. I just can't keep up with many of my other clubs, reading too many books per month, that are usually not the ones that I voted for. I'm quite happy to stick with Will Wheaton's rule : ) too! (I loved him on, especially, The Big Bang Theory, and in everything else. His blog is good, too.)
Welcome Christine. Yup, we're pretty laid back. Jump in for the reads you can, and don't be shy about posting in threads for past discussions as well.
Hi Christine, welcome! The rules were what made me join, too! :)
I also don't keep up with all the monthly reads (not even here), but like Rob already said, you're allowed to resurrect older threads to add your voice to a book you read later than the group. In fact, I will be doing just that with at least two of our reads soon.
PS: Here, have one! *pushes the cookie jar closer*
Thanks for the welcome, Rob and Kat! Looking forward to getting involved. Thanks for the cookie too... ; )
Hey guys! My name's Angus and i'm from the UK. I joined the group as I don't have a lot of reader friends so would love to meet new people, who share the love of fantasy. Some of my favourite books include Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel and The Night Circus but I also really love epic fantasy. I am currently working my way through The Wheel of Time (just finished book 2), but taking breaks between each one :) Feel free to send a friend request, as I love interacting with other readers :)
Welcome Angus. We're a bit ahead of you on our WoT read, but feel free to jump in to our threads for the books you have read/ as you read them.
Hi Angus!I hope you like cookies, because we have a large cookie jar that gets pushed around the welcome thread...
*hands over cookie*
Kat wrote: "Hi Angus!I hope you like cookies, because we have a large cookie jar that gets pushed around the welcome thread...

oooo *takes cookie* As long as it's choc chip because nothing is more disappointing than a raisin cookie....
Rob wrote: "Man..everyone seeme to hate Raisins but me. Oh well more for me!"I don't mind raisins when i'm prepared to eat a raisin cookie, but sometimes you bite in to it thinking it's chocolate and then BOOM raisin... It's just the shock factor of them :D
Rob wrote: "The grapes the sell aren't exactly alive. Also what about wine?"Asking the real questions now!
I don't like half-dead grapes either. Wine is fermented, so it's deader than dead, I can just about abide that.
I'm Sabrina (yes like the teenage witch) from Switzerland and joined because I felt a little lonely reading the broken earth trilogy all by myself… and also: I like raisins and wine 😊

We'll be doing the next Mistborn book when that comes out and we just did the latest Sullivan book in December.
