These types of books do not reproduce the script exactly, but are as Cait said, an adaption of the script into a type of comic book/grahic novel. The following link has some images showing what they look like:

I think "Fotonovel" was a trademark of a specific company. In this particular case, I would probably put Fotonovel Publications as the primary author, listed as "adapter".

Today I stumbled across this Der Herr der Ringe: Filmroman, das Buch zum Film mit 400 Fotos which would appear to be the German edition of the same book. However the German book lists Bakshi as the author.
Since I think the two should be combined, what do people think should be the author format for the book?
