After having it in my "to read" list for years I'm, finally reading, Orange Mint and Honey by Carleen Brice
Hello hello! I'm reading The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Its great, as is all of her work.
Right now I'm reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. Its pretty good, I love a book with realistic and really flawed characters. Before that was James Frey's A Million Little Pieces. That book was crazy. Next up is Things Fall Apart again. I did recently read Bebe Moore Campbell's 72 Hour Hold, and it is REALLY good. I would definitely recommend that one.

Yes, Parable of the Sower is the first book of the two-book "Earthseed" series. It was meant to be a trilogy, I believe, but Butler did not complete the third before her death.
I'm also reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie and I enjoy it but it's not a "happy" book. Not that it needs to be, but shows the nuances of family life and familial relationships,
I'm reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie and it's okay...keep putting it down for others tho. I'm also reading Black Labor, White Wealth by Dr. Claud Anderson.

I enjoyed the book, I guess it just wasn't holding my attention...
I just finished The Personal History of Rachel DuPree and I found it average to what I had hoped for. I'm rating it 3,5 stars and will be posting a review on Monday.
I read A Cupboard Full of Coats by Yvette Edwards not long ago and I loved it.
I read The Killing Moon by NK Jemisin and My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due. Both were superb.
I just finished I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (I know, I'm late) and am now reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.

Currently, I'm re-reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, a biographical saga about the unknowing impact this 'nobody' has on life even today. A fascinating read well worth the time investment. Highly recommend it.
I've read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks three times. I even teach it in my high school Humanities course. Students' eyes are opened to the ethical, social, moral, racial, legal, and socioeconomic injustices unveiled. Real world extensions include visits to medical centers, discussions with guest speakers such as attorneys, sociologists, etc. I'm waiting on Skloot's next book!!!
I just started The Courage to Hope: How I Stood Up to the Politics of Fear by Shirley Sherrod, former first black developer of rural development in Georgia. Remembering the media and political hailstorm that was dumped on this woman moved me to read her story.
Le Petit Prince. So far it's lovely.
The Taste of Salt......jury is still out.

I loved the Taste of Salt. I think the fact that the family was not "perfect" is what did it for me. I also know that I enjoy Southgate's writing.
I've just finished Sister Souljah's "A Deeper Love Inside." I enjoyed it immensely. I'm reading "From the Memoirs of a Non-Enemy Combatant" by Alex Gilvarry next.

I'm reading Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson with Leonicka. Almost done! Pretty good!
Just finished The Thing Around Your Neck, and I just started Americanah both by Chimamanda Adichie. And also Ghana Must Go.

I finished Ghana Must Go over the weekend. SO GOOD! I really want to read Americanah too.
I'm reading Southgate's The Fall of Rome. I love this author but some of her characters grate my last nerves. That's what I find so enjoyable about her.
I'm reading Being Lara by Lola Jaye.
I just finished 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami (it took be a month!) and now I am on to Lillith's Brood by Octavia Butler.

At the moment, I am reading And When She Was Good by Laura Lippman
Just finished Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor. The character development and relationships were fantastic.
