I honestly can't remember. John appeared at the end of book 1 if I remember correctly. Quin and Blay showed up when Joh..."

Thanks, Susinok. I'm still working on book 1.

Averin | 114 comments Delurking: I think it was the second or third (Butch's book) because they start out as pre-trans in training. Mary rescues John Matthew and he becomes a trainee with Quinn, Blay, and Lash.

Averin | 114 comments Do you remember when authors started inserting brand names everywhere and it was labeled Kmart realism? The BDB is Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus Realism. It drops this high-end liquor name here, and Tom Ford suits there, etc. I suppose it is to reinforce that their salaries are so high because they are such great warriors. Perhaps that's why the glymera hate the BDB and the king, taxation?

Nearly every male vampire speaks that Ward-speak inner voice and maybe that's why she had to stick with Quinn and not include JM or Blay much because they all sound the same. In MM, if you don't watch your antecedents and can't give the MCs their own sound, the reader is quickly lost.

Anna (AnnaVZ) | 31 comments Finally finished LAL. And it wasn't a huge disappointment. It was rather good, actually. And definitely better than "Lover reborn". Ward really tried. I don't know what to make of the ending, though. So chewed, misshapen and hurried. Probably she had the release date looming or was just tired, or didn't know how... But I liked the book. But it's not m/m. :)

Susinok | 5205 comments For curiosity's sake I looked up Lover at Last on Amazon. It has 1311 reviews now and a very high average. The second most reviewed book of hers is the last Lover book at around 700 reviews.

So an m/m story is a huge success for JR Ward, I would have to say.
