On it are books/series with books that feature music in the fantasy world's magic system. I would recommend you look at the other books in the series, and also look at the other covers that have been used for those books; many of the older ones have been through several covers. And many of those authors have published a lot of books in those worlds/magic systems over the years.

I have to say, it was in the older fantasy genre, like David Eddings style. The book came in a box of similar books, and his series about Belgarion was in there.

I think I read the first couple of books something like close to 30 years ago so my memory of any actual plot is next to nothing. I believe the main character in the first two books is male, but this might change in some of the later ones.

Sally, I was just thinking of those...here's the link to the first in the series: Rhapsody: Child of Blood

Things I remember:
There was a girl singing on the front with a guy with a sword behind her, and a tall cloaked guy. The binding was perhaps a greenish color, and the title had the word "singing, song" in it.
The main character was a girl, and her family sang magic into the land.
Started out where her parents left on a trip to help someone, leaving her and her brother alone.
Someone showed up and took her on a quest to destroy this evil book, which only she could do by singing her way past the carnivorous forest that guarded it.
Her brother gets dragged into his own quest as he unintentionally helps her.
That basic plot that I remember, now here's some things that are stuck in my mind.
There were these creatures that the more you wounded them, the more powerful they became.
Salamanders were bad, and there were gnomes.
Any help? If asked questions I can supply more information, but forever the title has evaded me and I would love to read this book again.
