Jan Ryder (janryder) Hi, everyone. I'm new to this group (and a relative newbie to GR). Reading your comments reminded me of a quote from Ernest Hemingway (hope I've got it right) 'Writing is easy. All you have to do is sit at the typewriter and bleed.' Yeah, exactly. That's what I'll be doing this afternoon. Happy bleeding to you all! J.E.

Good one. Didn't he also say: "Easy writing makes for hard reading."

Pass the bandages and the gauze...

Don, check out the book, Mining Sacred Ground by Sam Knop on this site. I'm reading it now. Last summer, I spent months reading about Native American history, mythology and folklore. I go through these phases never knowing what they may or may not prepare me for.

Don G. (dgford) | 35 comments Conrad,
Some folks think that all I do is sit around campfires making up legends involving Little Feather and the Wolf.
(Wait there's an idea) But I write in every genre, and my subjects may be vampires, cute animals, clowns at the circus, and so forth.

You should have seen heads turn when they read my first Vampire tale "The Last Vampire". They would look around to see who else might have penned it. I don't live in a longhouse, but I invite others to visit one if they care to. Smiles, Don

I hear ya, Don. Most people think all indians ride horses, wear buffalo robes and live in teepees and they think they all come from the same tribe: "Generickee" Been to longhouses but thanks, anyhow.

This is where we come together and bury the hatchet or some other valuable to seal the deal.

I had a half Cherokee blood brother when I was growing up. The story is in my book, Detroit Daze. Let's just share a pipe. Your choice of what goes into it.
