The Host
question
Who think The Host needs a sequel?
When i first read the book, My e-reader did n't have the very last chapter, so i was devastated , left with this bitter-seer feeling, and i was dying for a sequel. When i bought it in print, i was surprised to find the extra chapter, and even more surprised to see how well so many questions and feelings were nicely wrapped up. So while theres lots of possibilities for a sequel or maybe a trilogy (NOT A SERIES) , i don't feel like its Necessary , I am curious though, so yeah i'd definitely read it.. I just don't want it to be bad, then it will spoil The Host for me, and i do love the book.
HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just finished this book (at 2am)! I LOVED it! I think it could totally run into a second book. I would really like to see what happens next too. If not, it isn't one I would be upset about ending where it is. Not sure about the movie; always better in my head.
i don't know - i loved reading The Host but i kinda like the end as it was, however i0m curiouse to see what its next. but at same time i don't wanna a sequel to host because What if the sequel blows up the story? and yes the opposite can happen too sooooooooooooooo idk... let it come then :)
Although it was a great ending for Wanda, the book did leave some loopholes. I would be interested in seeing where SM plans to take these characters.
Mainly, it seems that the humans are in a no-win situation against the Souls. I wonder how she sees the future of mankind, and if she has some way of the two being able to live together in peace.

I hope she doesn't rush it. Then it'll just be content set-up for another movie.I liked how the Host was patient and took it's time to flesh out characters. I have a bad feeling about the sequel :{
great book i don't think it needs a sequel but i am already excited so if she righting another one i am reading it.
I loved the book and I don't think that it needs to become a saga, but we're getting one, and I'm excited! If it was for money grabbing reason I would disapprove but stephening meyer stated that she wanted to see where the character takes her and that was her reason behing continuing the adventure, and I say: Good for her! Let's see where she takes us this time. :)
Just like the Twilight sequel The Host deserves a hit sequel.
I really really think the host should have a second book... and it gets to more!!! the soul is the second one!!! hell yeah
Even though I would read the sequel if there was or will ever be one, I don't think a sequel would be necessary. The story was nicely finished.
I don't think it needs to be a series/saga, really, because I think the ending was perfect in the way it both tied things up and left things open to interpretation and imagination... but as someone who loved the book immensely, like you did, as long as the sequels are as good as the original and not just fluff sequels, I'm happy!
I don't think it needs a sequel, cause it was so awesome and I was happy with it and I liked the ending. If there is going to be another one I will read it to see what happens and hope it's as good as the first one.
well it would suit the host more than four sequels did to twilight...
there shouldn't be a sequel....this book was so great and i think a second book would diminish this grandiosity....
I want more WANRED (Wanda and Jared)! I really want a sequel!!!
I don't think it needs another. I loved it as a stand-alone, so I hope a sequel doesn't ruin it :/
I heard that this book will be a trilogy: The seeker and the soul. And I do think this book deserves it after how the book ended with them finding another humans and some connection between Jared and Wanda, and Melanie and Ian.
I wanted one until I saw the movie. I don't particularly want a dragged out movie franchise tbh.
I dunno. I want to see more Ian and Wanda and Jared and Melanie and them saving the human race etc. But if she does make a sequel then that means Emily browning will forever play the role of Wanda. I am seriously sad that the caster chose her as Wanda and that was for a short period of time. I'm not saying she's a bad actress but her acting and her looks just don't fit as what we imagined Wanda tk be. If they're not making a movie of the sequel you r free to write one but I'm fine with it being a standalone book
I think this book was perfect. I absolutely loved it and think it was a great story. I think if another sequel was made I can only think that they eventually can manage to save more humans and send the souls back.
But I just have a mooch and it said book 2 is 'the Seeker' and a third 'The Soul'..
I dunno whether that may be a good or bad thing..

I can not wait until the series is finished. Stephanie Meyer is in the process of writing the second book in a trilogy. The first is The Host obviously. The second is called The Seeker and the final is called The Soul.

I would think it would be better as a stand-alone. But, hey, if Meyer is up to trying to impress us, I'll try the new ones out.
I think the ending might have been a little too perfectly tied together. A sequel with a few more complications might not be a bad thing.
It WILL have a sequel. Stephenie Meyer has been writing one since 2008. In fact in a small interview with US magazine last week she says she is only about 1/2 way done with it because she has been so busy with all the craziness around Twilight to have much time to work on it, so who knows how long it will be until it comes out - 5 years and still only half done?
Mixed feelings.. I would like to see where it goes from here as far as Wanda(Pet) and Ian go and as far as the other dude in the end of the book with the other humans but at the same time, I'm afraid that if a sequel comes out is going to throw the hole book out.
I would love for The Host to have a sequel! It is such a good book and another book would tie it all together.
YES! I strongly think the Host needs another book and should become a series, I honestly liked it better than twilight, just by a hair :)
I don't think it NEEDS a sequel, but it would be cool with one. BUT if she really writes one, I personally hope that it is from someone else point of view, since I think the story would progress better :)
I loved the Host, but I like the way it ended. I don't think it needs a sequel at all. I would LOVE to have a prequel about Melanie and Jared though.
I think it's fine as a stand alone. It was obviously intended to be the end - it's too neat to be the first of a trilogy.
Plus, I worry when I hear the word trilogy bandied around. It means the author is writing what her agent tells her too, not what the story demands.

Me me me! Maybe it doesn't need it but I know I want it! I can't wait to hear about Burns and Nate and all the other human survivors. Throughout the book I kept wondering how there could only be 35 humans left in the world, I mean that is complete and utter domination. I had a feeling there were other groups and now that I know I can't wait for the sequel! XD
Only if she can deliver. Twilight was supposed to be a stand alone book and I honestly think it would have been so much better than the series she gave us. I'm scared the two next books will ruin the series just as the three next books did with Twilight
I don't think The Host really needs a sequel but if there were one I'd read it.
I loved the host! Even though I wasn't a twilight fan I admit Stephanie Myer is incredible. I absolutely need to know what happens next. SEQUEL!
I think it was a perfectly neat ending. I realt don't want it to becom a series, it would take away some of the momentum from the book.
I thought the ending of the book was amazing. it dosnt need a sequel but im interested to see what's genna happen.
I heard there will be a sequel called "The Seeker" but I don't know if the story will be connected to "The Host" or there there will be another set of characters. IMO though, I want "The Host" to have a sequel. Even though the ending of the book is really beautiful, the war isn't over yet. Especially now they found hope at the later part of the book.
