Akupsch | 10 comments I am trying to remeber the title and author of a book I read some years ago. The story is as follows:

Hero marries heroine when she is sick and believed to be dying. I can't remember exactly why something to do with her father not wanting her to die unmarried. Hero then leaves without waiting for her to die. She obviously doesn't die. A short time later hero decides it is time to find a wife. He is in the process of finding a wife when, surprise, his wife shows up at his castle. This is about all I can remember of the story. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: this book is indeed historical. set in medieval times. possibly england but for some reason viking sticks in my head but not conclusive on that

Could be French, Spanish, Italian, German (I really LOVE Ludwig of Bavaria's Castles). . . Anywhere in Europe that had castles. And I agree--what period was it set in? Would almost definately have to be historical, otherwise the hubby would have been notified by the hospital, "Hey bud, just thought you'd like to know that your wife didn't die." And then he'd get a quicky divorce. But it DOES sound interesting.

Amber (Daisymau) (daisymau) | 1912 comments Connie Mason had one with a plot like this. I just can't remember the title.

I ran through the list of Connie Mason books on her website. Didn't see one with a plot like this. Thanks for the lead.

Roughly how long ago did you read it?

I read this book in the late nineties, it was from a libarary so probably wasn't a "new" book at that time.

Akupsch | 10 comments I've been thinking about this one some more and I think I came up with a few more details:

The woman the hero is considering marrying is staying at his castle with her family when his wife shows up. I remember something about the woman not being a virgin and thinking of ways to "trick" hero on her wedding night. I also think her presense is what makes the heroine go to the castle. She wasn't fully well yet (I think). Also maybe something about heroines brother's (uncles, cousins?) telling her not to let hero perform any "french perversion" on her.

That's it for now, will keep trying to remember details. Thanks in advance for any leads.

When I googled "French perversion" Keeper of the Dream came up immediately.

Akupsch | 10 comments Nope, that's not the book I'm looking for. There was no paranormal (fantasy, sci-fi) element to the story. Just a good old fashioned romance. Keeper of the Dream looks interesting though, will have to add it to my list of books to read. Thanks for the lead.

Akupsch | 10 comments I remember it was super awkward. He was a super manly man and she was a sweet very unexperienced woman. He wanted a different kind of woman all together and was really kind of mean to her at first. Wish I could remember the title, would really like to read this again.

Akupsch | 10 comments Well, Thank you to everyone who gave me ideas and or leads. I have since found the book I was looking for. It was FIRE SONG by Catherine Coulter. Unfortunatly, upon reading it again I am disappointed that I remembered this book so fondly. I guess that just goes to show that our tastes change over the years.
