Megan (nightrunner) Eponine flinched at the shout, falling right out of her chair to the ground, landing on her butt. That was not what she needed in the middle of a panic attack, since she felt like her heart was about to just totally give out, as she turned to learn against her chair, putting her head in her hands. She knew Ink tended to show up at inopportune times, but his timing this time was impeccable. He must have been listening outside the door for a tense silence to crash into. She tried to slow her heart, which seemed to be in a race to go faster than it ever had before.

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Ink felt slightly awkward all of a sudden and looked from Eponine to William, then to Emma. Emma was staring intently at her hands, glancing up at William then Eponine just as he had. He quirked his mouth to the side and rubbed the back of his head, feeling a bump that was forming.

"Uh...." he managed to get out, then tried to smooth it out once more, choosing his words very carefully while still being himself, "Will my man, aren't you going to comfort your ladies? Eponine is in the middle of a heart attack and if Emma wrings her hands anymore, she's not gonne HAVE any hands."

Jamie sighed to herself. Ink always showed up at the most interesting times. Unfortunately, this time he had also drew attention to what everyone had been avoiding. The elephant in the room, so to speak. Unable to do much to relieve the situation, Jamie rest her chin in the palm of her hand and waited to see how it would all play out.

Sadie It was times like these the Henrietta couldn't help but to laugh. Which is exactly what she did. Leaning back in her chair, her bright laughter rippled through the tense room.
"Geesh Ink," she said, stifling her chuckles. "You always know how to make an entrance."

"My God, Ink, you wonder why you aren't invited often! Yelling out for all to hear and slapping one's bottom isn't exactly "friendly and civilized" behaviour, you know!", William said, rolling his eyes. He winced a bit at his comment about his "ladies", but as Ink hadn't been there, he simply wouldn't know, so it couldn't be helped. William knelt down beside Eponine, holding out a hand for her so she could be on her feet again. To Emma he said,"Calm down, Emma. Forget Ink. He's just being the uncivilized person he is. Now, do you still want to go on the excursion?", returning to the topic again.

message 156: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) Eponine looked up at William, forcing a small smile, her breathing still uneven, but she was more in control now. She took his hand, holding tight to it as she forced herself to her feet, before unwillingly letting his hand go. "I'm sorry," she murmured softly. She looked between Ink and Will, thinking how different the two were, polar opposites, yet, it seemed they both held their appeal to some extent, Eponine had yet to see Ink's, but he was moderately attractive. It was just the fact that he was insensitive that totally knocked out any appeal he may have. She wrapped her arms around herself, settling slowly back into her seat since she still felt more than a little shaky.

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Ink mocked William by putting his hands on his head and moving his hips back and forth, while he stuck his tounge out and crossed his robin's egg blue eyes. He quickly stopped when his keen ears caught something interesting.

"Excursion?" he asked curiously, and leaned forward suggestively, "Does that mean you're going to explore a woman's-"

"Ah! Ink!" Emma cried out, her face turning strawberry red, "Do not say such things!"

"What?" Ink asked innocently, tilting his head to the side, "Emma, you're a girl. Are you jut afraid to say the word -"

"Ink!" Emma cried and covered her ears.

Ink sighed and then looked back up again, "So what's going on?"

Jamie, who was fighting back a smile, decided to explain what was happening. "We found some evidence that suggests another group has formed," she started, gesturing to the items spread about the table. "A short while ago our computer was hacked and we think it is linked back to this new group. Eponine has apparently already stumbled upon this group, but it had slipped her mind." Here, Jamie stopped herself from sending a suspicious look Eponine's way. How could she have forgotten something like that? She continued, "Now we're planning a field trip back there, but we're trying to decide upon who is going. Eponine, obviously, but we need someone else to go with her."

message 162: by Sadie (new)

Sadie "I was thinking Emma, but, William brought up a good point- she can't lie." Henrietta leaned forward on her knees and looked up at Ink. "Thoughts?" she asked. She had always somewhat appreciated Ink's forwardness, it was usually pretty refreshing.

Jamie watched Ink carefully. From what she knew about him, he could be perfect for the job. He could lie without difficulty and there was no question as to if he could defend himself.

message 164: by [deleted user] (new)

William stayed beside Eponine. He looked at Ink. "What do you think? You up for an adventure?", he asked Ink. His face was smiling, his eyes laughing, but inside, he felt a tug of something, something he couldn't quite place a finger on.

message 165: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "Is that a trick question?" Ink asked, grinning, well - Smirking. But with Ink it's the same thing, "Adventure is my sixth middle name!"

"Let's see, I need a sexy dres for Eponine, not to revealing though- "

"W-why?" Emma stuttered, wondering why he would need such a thing.

Ink rolled his eyes as if it were obvious, "If I'm gonna be followng her and pretending to be her boyfriend, I gotta have SOMETHING to look at."

"You're terrible." Emma grumbled, but secretly wondered if Ink thought that about all girls.

"Hey." Ink said , shrugging, "I can't be tamed."

Ink's expression changed and he looked intently at Eponine, "You ought to know that I will do almost anything to succeed. I won't let someone interfere with my home and my family, not again. I refuse to let this place go down in flame, whether they be real or digital." He grinned, closing his eyes and tilting his head to the side, "But we can still have fun, no?"

Jamie couldn't help but shake her head and roll her eyes, smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Ink really was something else.
"I suppose that settles it, then," she said, happy that he agreed to go. She'd feel much better about this with him going. "Well, if Eponine is ok with it."

message 167: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) "Um- ah-" Eponine had no clue how to respond to that, she had just been thrown out of her comfort zone, and still wasn't exactly calm. So instead she just shut her mouth and nodded, tentatively. She was so nervous. Could Ink be trusted, or would he tell Emma or Will? Both of them were good friends. She knew one thing, she wasn't putting on a sexy dress, she would be putting on her 'street rat' clothes, it made it so much easier to blend in that way.

"Good," Jamie said, noticing that Eponine still didn't seem to be doing the best. "No dress, though, Ink. Blending in is what we want you to do. Not standing out." She leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms, thinking. "You'll have ear comms so we can hear what you hear and say, but I don't want to risk sending you in with a camera. Too risky."

message 169: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Henrietta nodded along with everybody else. She trusted Ink, because she knew him beyond the carefree exterior. She knew he'd get the job done. Clapping her hands together abruptly she stood.
"Alright. Ink and Eponine need to get ready, and I need to set up the wireless sets." she said. "Say we break for Lunch, meet back up int he intel room for briefing?" She looked at Jamie, who as Head of Intelligence, typically does the briefing. "That agreeable to everyone?"

Jamie nodded in agreement, though she knew she wouldn't be eating much for lunch. After all, she had to get a solid plan for Eponine and Ink's little excursion.

message 171: by [deleted user] (new)

"Fine. After lunch we'll meet up", William said, his gaze avoiding Eponine's. He left the command room quickly, his head ducked and his hands shoved into his pants pockets.

Jamie watched him go. She spared a glance at Eponine before standing up herself and walking out, deciding to just head straight to the Intel room.
