Sadie Henrietta looked up and smiled at Jamie. It was Jamie who coined her with the nickname Kink. She hardly remembered why, just that it was years ago, before they were both heavily involved with the rebel movement.
"Well, nothing good. This is Eponine's." she said with a sigh, motioning to the plans. "Is Emma coming back?"

message 52: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "I'm here." Emma said as she was led into the room, with Jim's large hand firmly on her back, "Jim was sure he saw a spider coming right at me-"

"I DID see it. Not my imagination. Emma all-air-gick to spiders." Jim said proudly, declaring that he had saved the young woman from desperate peril.

"Yes." Emma said with a smiled, patting Jim's side, "Yes, I am allergic to spider venom, thank you very much for protection me Jim."

"Welcome!" Jim said happily, patting Emma's head, "Can I sit?" He asked, pointing to his personal spot, next to Emma's chair when meetings took place.

"Of course you may Jim!" Emma told him, sidestepping for her large friend.

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

William stepped into the room quietly. "Hello Jim and Jamie. Emma was just going through a couple of rather... gruesome images of an autopsy she performed. Take a seat, everyone, and we'll continue", he said, taking his seat, which was beside Eponine's vacant seat.

Jamie took her seat, eyes scanning the pictures of the autopsy. As she picked up more small details, a feeling of dread grew in the pit of her stomach.

message 55: by Sadie (new)

Sadie "Right, well." Henrietta began. She was glad the whole gang was here to hear this, it was rather serious news. Especially if it involved another hostile front. She figured William would catch Eponine up as soon as her eyes opened because there was no doubt he'd be by her side as long as possible. "I'll let Emma explain first."

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

"Before we begin, I'd like to ask a rather strange question. Anyone eat recently?", William asked, smiling a little.

message 57: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Henrietta gave him a confused look. She narrowed her eyes and looked at Jamie before responding.
"I just had my tea..." she trailed her voice off, not exactly sure where he was going with this.

Jamie sighed. She just wanted to get things started. She hated being left out of the loop. "I haven't eaten since breakfast," she said, hoping to speed things along.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

"Good. That ultimately cancels out the fact that anyone is going to hurl. Emma's pictures can cause nausea and the urge to hurl. Emma? Would you like to start?", William asked, glancing at the sleek face of his watch.

message 60: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "Are you showing them the man with the tattoo foot?" Jim asked curiously, playing with some string he found on the floor.

"Yes, Jim." Emma replied kindly, displaying the photos, and reiterated what she had told Eponine, William and Henrietta, with a few minor details.

"So, I think I know the symbol of this organization." She said, and pointed to the tattoo on the man's foot. It was a circle with a line through it.

"Jim, give me that blue book we found." Emma asked, and a plastic cover book was placed on the table

"It's a journal in some forigen language, but look." Emma pointed to the corner of each page, where the same symbol was.

"Jim?" She said, and a basket was set on the table, "Everything in here has the same symbol."

message 61: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Henrietta peered at the peculiar marking wondering what it might symbolize. She looked up and met eyes with Emma, exchanging a glance of worry. at least they knew what they were up against with Abrova. This new party was a complete unknown.
"And I've found hints that there may be another network up out there." she said, sitting back in her chair. "Of course I don't keep anything on these pieces of junk, but I think whoever they are may have tried to hack us once or twice."

message 62: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 101 comments Mod
Jamie's gaze sweeped over the items on the table, taking everything in. The pictures, although gruesome, did nothing to turn her stomach. Her eyes finally rested on the basket, waiting to see what was inside.

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

William was silent. That symbol reminded him of something. Something he had seen before. He kept trying to recall the name of it, trying to grasp at the name. Eponine would probably have known. "Could you take the objects out Emma? Maybe if we spread them out on the table we might be able to connect them together", William suggested.

message 64: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Henrietta heard an obnoxious beep behind her. Instantly, her blood ran cold. She knew exactly what that meant. It meant someone was getting dangerously close to hacking their network.
"Shit, shit, shit," she said, spinning around in her chair. Her fingers flew over the keyboard as she tried to back-trace whoever it was. She prepped the external hardrive for ejection but didn't yank it out just yet. She didn't want to ruin the opportunity to find out whoever this mystery party was.

message 65: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 101 comments Mod
Jamie jumped up and walked over to Henrietta. She stood behind her, watching her fiingers fly across the keys. "Somebody hacking?" she asked though she already knew the answer.

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

William snapped his head around to the computer. "Try sending in a virus, it might uncover something. Can you find their IP Address? Anything that might give us a clue?", he asked, standing up and watching Henrietta's fingers flew.

message 67: by Sadie (new)

Sadie "Working on it," she said, already aware of what she had to do. She squinted her eyes at the almost archaic screen in front of her, trying to take in as much as she could.
"Well, it's definitely not Abrova," she commented, with no break in her focus. "Which means..." She left this open ended.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

"It's a force that's showing its first face for the first time. Any possibility it could endanger us to Abrova?", William asked. That symbol was still bugging him; he knew that symbol...

message 69: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "Not possible." Emma interrupted, "You're a new player to a game and you're strong enough to fight both your opponents at the same time. However you don't want to mix them, you want to play the one against the other."

"Like in Monopoly?" Jim asked, "Exactly. This new group is the banker, for all we know, they already have us and Abrova in check."

message 70: by Sadie (new)

Sadie "Dammit," she spat, knowing she'd lost. She yanked the external harddrive out and gritted her teeth, disappointed. She sat back and folded her arms, she hated losing.
Shaking her head, she added, "We can't know for sure if they've touched Abrova." she said. "From what I can tell Abrova has one hell of a firewall and it would have been ten times harder to get into their network."
She watched for her screen to go blank. When, instead, it turned bright crimson she sat up. "What the hell..." She watched as from the deep red, the symbol emma had just showed them appeared in black in the center of the monitor.

message 71: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Emma looked wildly around the room,"No one move! No one speak!" she commanded, and backed up against the wall.

"Jim, there's a very small camera above your head." she whispered. "It's meant to be used to keep track of who comes in and out of this room."

Jim looked above him and saw the very ghetto looking camera. It was a digital camera that had been taped to the wall with clear packing tape.

"The wires are attached to the wall-"

"Got it!" he said, grabbed the camera and yanked it right off the wall, but did not break the camera itself, but tore it from it's power sources.

"May I?" she asked, and the camera was placed in her hands. She turned it over and her jaw tightened with rage, "I know who did this." she announced quietly and slammed the camera on the table. Stamped into the metal was the same symbol, "I know the symbol too..."

message 72: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 101 comments Mod
Jamie, who had been staring at the computer screen, blinked and turned to Emma. "Who is it?" she asked. Although she felt as if she'd seen the symbol before, she couldn't place it.

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

William glanced around. "Jim, do me a favour, will you? Go get Eponine and anyone else", he said. He turned to Emma. "Who is it? The symbol's been bugging me, but I can't figure it out"

message 74: by Simply (last edited May 14, 2013 03:52PM) (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments JIm nodded, confirming he would and left as quickly (and carefully) as he could manage.

Emma sat down and rubbed her eyes, "Do you remember how Russia reformed the Soviet Union right before Abrova took them out?" Emma asked, looking up at William, "Well, what if they just played dead?" she asked, and pulled a boot with the symbol stamped into it and began drawing over it with a near by marker. When she was done, she held it up and showed it to William.

"Behold, USSR symbol. It's simplified, disguised... The man I found was Russian by genetics."

message 75: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) ((U.S.S.R, actually that's the abbreviation for the Soviet Union, or the official name, The union of Soviet Socialist Russia.))

message 76: by Sadie (new)

Sadie ((I'm confused... how did Russia reformed the Soviet Union? Russia was the Soviet Union.))

message 77: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments ((It was broken down after WW2, quite shortly after the Berlin wall was "torn down" the USSR or SU. So it was dissolved, basically. Russia itself isn't the USSR. It's like calling Japan itself a dynasty.))

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

((No, technically Russia and 15 "new" states/countries was the U.S.S.R. But Russia didn't exactly reform the U.S.S.R. either. The U.S.S.R. was dissolved and in the end, 15 "new" states/countries and Russia became independent.))

"Okay, that answers who's the third party, and what the symbol is. But that means that whoever killed him must know about this too. He must have had something with or in him that was worth hiding. There's a fourth person involved in this", William said, glancing at the symbol.

message 79: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments ((I know. I live in one of those countries.))

"The third-" Emma started and then scoffed in frustration, "Never mind. If it makes you happy, there's a forth person." She said, throwing her hands up, a sign of giving up.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

"Emma, listen. Taking that the USSR, if, in fact is still around, that would be the third party. You said yourself that the man was killed. It wasn't one of us, so it must have been someone who does know about the USSR. Unless it was Abrova, the person is either part of the USSR or someone completely different", William said.

message 81: by Sadie (new)

Sadie ((And I studied Russia all year...sigh))

Henrietta dropped her head into her hands. This is getting confusing. She hadn't noticed any other party, and she really didn't want there to be. It was hard enough fighting Abrova, and now that there was a second threat it was going to get even worse.
"Where is 'Ponine?" she said. "She needs to be here."

message 82: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "It's also entirely possible that this guy-" she said, then slapped her hand on the table near the pictures, "Wasn't involved with the Third party at all. It's MOST likely that he was a turncoat between Abrova and us." Emma explained, "The only evidence that he MIGHT be involved with the third party is the tattoo on his foot."

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

"Which means we cannot rule out the possibility that we're being watched. What I want to know is who killed him and why? Did that person know of the USSR? Questions, questions, questions, Emma. Do not, ever, let anything slip", William said.

message 84: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 101 comments Mod
"We need to find out who he is, first," Jamie said. "I can send some people out and have them ask question, see what they can figure out. There's no guarantee we'd learn anything from that, though."

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

"We'll have to take that chance. What on earth could be taking Jim so long?", William said out loud, getting a little impatient, which was quite unlike him. William took in a breath, releasing it slowly, calming himself. There was no need whatsoever to make it so blatantly obvious.

message 86: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) ((Okay, sorry Rated N, but I'm ditching Jim))

Eponine pushed the door open carefully, peaking around it, trying to make sure she wasn't interrupting anything, one of her knee length white skirts paired with a light blue blouse adorning her small body. Some of her nicest clothes. She was feeling good today and wanted to look as goo as she felt "Have we made any progress?" she asked, moving in to the tense room, taking her seat beside William's.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

William didn't answer immediately, slightly taken away by Eponine's appearance. He smiled. "Do you feel alright?", he asked, completely forgetting what had been happening as he gazed at her.

message 88: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Emma stared down at her hands and curled her toes in frustration. Why? Why was is that Eponine caught William up in a matter of seconds, yet Emma was just a child to him? She squeezed her eyes shut and curled her hands into fists. Here they were, on the brink of a three way chess match, and all three players were in check, and all William could think about was Eponine. She was fine, really. The color was back in her face and her body language even shouted that she was doing just fine.

It hurt, really to be in her position. How much had she done for William? Every day she did her work early so he would never miss a beat, she frightened herself to death going out to get him from his work and inform him. She made sure everything in the rebellion was tidy and in order. Did he notice? Of course not, he was too busy chasing around Eponine.

message 89: by [deleted user] (new)

William noticed Emma's almost imperceptible shift of emotions. "Emma, can I talk to you for a moment?", William asked, his voice completely contradicting his body language. He opened the door, waiting for her, indicating that it wasn't an option to say no.

message 90: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Henrietta looked between William, Emma, and Eponine. She could read between the lines. It wasn't a secret that William had a thing for Eponine. And she had figured from last night that Emma had a thing for William. She hated to think it, but she knew things could get sticky quickly if this was allowed to brew. She didn't exactly have faith in William to clear things between them, after all a girl in love is a dangerous thing.
"I'll catch 'Ponine up," she said to Emma.

message 91: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments "Thank you very much Henrietta." Emma told her shyly and stepped timidly out in the hallway with her eyes cast to the ground. She did not dare speak, for she did not know what may come out of her mouth. She was angry, hurt and upset, but at the same time her mousy personality forbade such feelings, thus creating intense turmoil inside of her.

message 92: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) ((lol, Emma has taken Eponine's place from before...hehehe))

Eponine looked around, confused. She hadn't really payed attention to Emma's reaction, she had just turned to smile at Will, going to answer him, when he had looked away, her brows knitted as she turned to face Emma, paling a little as she saw the look on her face, though instantly trying to hide it. She knew that look. She knew it all too well. Emma and Will... Was she the one doing it do Emma? Did Will really like her? Why would Will.. she shook her head, moving over to Henrietta, hanging her head a little. "I should just go back to the bunks," she said dejectedly, swallowing hard. "All I do is cause trouble."

message 93: by Sadie (new)

Sadie "Oh, hush. These things do happen..." Henrietta said dismissively. "Besides something important happened." Henrietta stood and showed Eponine the symbol. "This just showed up on my screen after we'd been hacked." she paused. "Evidently there's a third party and we don't know who's side their on. But they obviously want their presence known."

message 94: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments ((Oh my gosh, Emma totally has! XD))

message 95: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) ((I know, right, now Eponine's going to feel like crap because not only is she kind of dragging will along, she's putting emma in the position she so recently vacated.))

message 96: by [deleted user] (new)

William shut the door behind them. He leaned against the wall casually. "Care to explain why you've been acting different, Emma? Or should I?", William said, looking at Emma.

message 97: by Megan (new)

Megan (nightrunner) "I'm sorry," she said softly, swallowing down the horrible feelings overcoming her. "How much do we know about this, and what connection do the have to the Soviet Union?" Eponine asked, looking at the symbol, tracing it with her fingers, her eyes flicking anxiously to the door every few seconds.

message 98: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Emma backed up against the opposite wall, with her head hung low, and her hands being wrung nervously in front of her, "I-I don't understand..." she said softly, shaking a tiny bit.

message 99: by [deleted user] (new)

"Don't even pretend, Emma. The way your mood changed so abruptly just back there. And how you were looking at me when Eponine fainted. You understand, I know you do. Emma, just tell me", William said softly, stepping closer to her and placing a finger under her chin, he lifted her head gently. He gazed into them and said softly,"Let it out, Emma"

message 100: by Simply (new)

Simply (ninjaofthekeyboard) | 236 comments Emma blinked rapidly, trying not to cry for once in her life. Her heart screamed at her to grab hold of him and yell 'I love you!'. However, the rest of her said no, brushing her feelings back into a dark corner. She took a deep breath and softly looked up, as if her own vision were as delicate and light as feathers, "I can't. You may know, and I know, but I can't. Eponine..."
