ABANDONED. Children's book, rocket ship hijacked by invisible aliens and their spaceship for batteries

Looking for children's book. My father read it to me around 1990, Its about an airplane/rocketship that goes into space and the children and captain are hijacked by invisible aliens and their spaceship for their batteries. the kids have to then weigh themselves down with moon rocks to be able to go out and retrieve the stolen batteries and return to earth.
If anyone has any idea what this is called and where i can get it i would really appreciate it. My father taught me how to read with it and it is not only naustalgic for me but i would love to do the same with my children. Thank you for your help.
