I really enjoy it so long as I get questions about books I've actually read. Curious to know: is anyone else having trouble with it lately? For the past couple of days, it doesn't allow me more than question. And today, it told me my answer was wrong and I know it was right.
It was a question about A Christmas Carol asking how many ghosts visited Scrooge? Twice I answered 3 and it told me my answer was wrong. So I tried 4 and it said wrong again. Wonder what's up with that...

For myself, I'd rather review and comment on books, and read other people's reviews and comments, than answer questions about books. The quiz might have a bit more interest if it were genuinely competitive; but as it is, people use the skip feature differently (I usually skip any question I don't know the answer to, unless I'm very sure of my guess, but many people don't) and they don't get the same sets of questions, depending on when they log on, so comparing the scores is pretty much comparing apples and oranges. But that's just me!

I was one who used to often send a challenge Werner, always a Norah Lofts one but just recently haven't done so . Not sure why. I did get bored of having to scroll all the Twlight and other stuff though, and that probably set the rot in.
Speaking of NL, nothing much going on on the Town Hosue thread recently is there? I used to really enjoy your analyses.

Re the Town House discussion over on the Fans of Norah Lofts group, the activity does seem to have begun to slack off; I think, since it was the "March" group read, that most people are likely finished with it and wanting to go on to another book. I did post a fairly long comment a couple of days ago; but otherwise I haven't had much time to do so lately. And, alas, a re-arrangement of my usual weekly routine will now leave me even less time to spend on Goodreads on the weekends. (Any scientist who ever invents a 48-hour day will make a fortune with it! :-))
Hi, I am back and we barely survived April Fool's getting home just ahead of a snowstorm. It was a bad day for me except that I was so super GLAD to get home. The house was ice cold and hubby was getting sick. Going we also ran ahead of a snowstorm into Taos and only saw a few snowflakes at the Vietnam memorial at Eagle Nest, NM.
I LOVE the neverending quiz and I am very addicted to it. I just now added a question from Daughter of York which I finished last night or the night before..my days are all confused now. I rarely play online games but as soon as I found the neverending quiz I was hooked. I am friends with Book Pig who is number one and I love to see how she did on a question and how my other friends did too who answered it. I try to send my many questions only to those who want them but sometimes mess up. I am a very good guesser and so amazed how often I guess right!!! I also enlist my hubby to help me and others too who will reply to me on it. When I left I was about 135 and expected to come back to be about 150 but still seem to be around 137 or so. Goodreads is acting up on me with pictures going over what I am trying to type, etc so have logged off a few times hoping it will improve. If you click on browse on the neverending quiz you can only answer what you want to answer. As you play on it you learn more and more about how it works. Callista,I also had to answer many questions twice and got credit for the second RIGHT answer! Now that was a first and I did wonder what was going on with that. Major malfunction?
I won't be on tonight as too sick to get anything right except my own questions, LOL!. I will be doing questions soon on The Story of Edgar Sawtellle which I am currently reading so let me know if you want them? I always add on at least one question from any book I am reading.
Sorry to be so long winded but so glad to be back. May I never roam again!!!!

I only play the quiz if I've read the book that the question is about. My computer's been infected with spyware & maybe more for over a week, and although we got most of it off, there is one still there causing me troubles with pop-ups sometimes (whether ads or legit applications). So it's interesting to see I'm not the only one having problems with the quiz.
Alice wrote: I always add on at least one question from any book I am reading. What a great idea! I think I will try doing the same.
Alice wrote: Who owns Barton cottage? That might be from Sense & Sensibility, I wonder what the choices are...

I've found lately that choosing the "trivia from my books" option in the quiz has spared me a lot of questions I'd just end up skipping; and now we have the option of skipping all a certain person's questions if it looks as if he or she posted a bunch of question on the same book (we haven't read).
I went berserk at first, adding a lot of questions, but when I looked at how my questions were being rated, I realised I was probably irritating some people, so I took a bunch out. Now I might post only one or two questions per book if it's something I really like and/or think other people might find interesting.

...being made to read Twilight?LOL I admit the hype has made me curious, too. And I feel guilty that I allowed my teen daughter to read it, although I did so based on other moms whose opinions I usually trust.
So what did you think of it, Callista? would you recommend? feel it's appropriate for 14-15 yr old teen girls?
I read all 4 Twilight books because of the neverending quiz and I enjoyed them immensely except for the last one. Some of the questions making fun I didn't mind but a few were really vicious. I don't understand the hatred.
I learned many of the answers simply by getting them over and over again. As you go along you get more and more "perks" on what you can do with it all.

Very glad to be back as the trip was rough on me. I was just uploading some of my pictures at Flickr. Yes, I had been there before in Dec 1972 but I refused to get out of the car as the wind was too cold. This was a much better even tho the day before the icy wind gave me asthma and I was wiped out from that. I walked all around the canyon dragging my oxygen bottle. I got some incredible shots.
I will have to click on Trivia and the quiz in order to remember as carrying chicken soup, etc to my hubby today has got me down and I can remember nothing. He did sleep most of the day. My little dog is also acting spoiled and whiny as she was at the kennel too long.

I've lived here in AZ for 5 yrs and haven't been up to visit with the kids. We went right past it to & from a trip to Boise but I didn't want to spend an extra minute doing anything as I was on the way to see my mom -- one last time, tomorrow is her birthday so she is on my mind. I miss her enormously.
Anyway, I was up there 27 yrs ago right after being married; it was a bitter cold day in November but I'm glad we stopped for a little peek at it. Even with snow on the ground, it was awesome. I don't think I could ever go out on the skywalk . Did you see it? walk out on it?
Love to see your pics if you care to share them. :)
We were not at the skywalk part but I doubt I could go out on it. I have no idea how to share them here as they are so tiny you can barely see anything but if you email me at Academymum@yahoo.com then I can send you some or you can look at them at Flickr. You can see the train we took by googling Grand Canyon train or something like that which is how I found it. It goes from Williams out there.
I know its hard as my father has crossed over and every Dec 4th I think about him and usually go to findagrave.com and put virtual flowers on his grave which makes me feel better.
I don't think we are cheating as we are allowed to help each other. There is even a link there that says ask a friend which is how I send questions to so many friends. Thanks for the tip. Anytime you need one let me know.

I haven't read the entire series yet, just the first book, so I can't fully vouch for it. I suppose it depends on the girl whether it's appropriate...and it depends on your own values. If you'd rather your daughter go to college before marrying, it might be worth a discussion about Bella's behaviour. ;)

thinking again about the subject of the thread, I did use the Neverending Quiz a lot at first but quit as I decided that I didn't have the time to devote to it that I wanted. I tried crafting questions based on my favorite children's book, _Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon_ but I kept thinking that I was giving spoilers away and I couldn't think of plausible alternative answers.
As someone on neverending quiz told me all the questions are spoilers so don't worry about it. I don't anymore. Any questions you post please send them to me as I love them. Tonight I got to number 117. I had several questions over again and remembered them! Good for my Aliceheimers! LOL!
Hoping to break 100 soon. Don't forget to browse that is the best way to get questions you want to attempt.

I was trying to reply to this. Very entertaining! Bill Bryson's A short History of Nearly Everything also has all kinds of strange facts along these lines too.

Glad you are able to see it! That photo comforted me when I saw it as he was over in the war zone. Someone sent it to me in email.
You sure got up early today. We have a very heavy fog here today which may last all day long! I woke up with a beautiful old song playing in my head: Mockingbird Hill. I haven't thought of this song in ages!

LOL! Time travel is possible! That International Date Line certainly does confuse me at times.
Its still so foggy that it seems it might be possible to time travel right now. "it was a white and ghostly morning" .....keep trying to get courage to venture out into it. I need to take a DVD back.
