Bobby Durrett | 234 comments 25. There are many in here that I am not familiar with which is great. I didn't see any Conan the Barbarian. I read a ton of Conan books when I was younger. Maybe I missed it. What about H.P. Lovecraft? I just finished his complete works. Very scary! Anyway, it was fun to review the list and count.

Bobby, being a democratically selected book of the month club, there are a lot of books that just haven't made it. Some have been on polls many times and their day has still yet to come! But we encourage folks to help us get books onto polls so we can all enjoy great books together! Looks like you have a bunch to look forward to ^^

message 1504: by Jenni (new)

Jenni "Blackrosefencer" (blackrosefencer) | 40 comments I was really impressed that there were 130+ books that this book club read. Then I saw that was 9 years ago! 😯

Anyway, I kind of came into this genre pretty recently so I've only read 7 books that the club has read.

Spinning Silver
The Hobbit
Brave New World
Fahrenheit 451
War of the Worlds
The Gunslinger
Stranger in a Strange Land

I read some of those in Honors English in high school. I remember really liking Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World a lot! Spinning Silver I read recently and was hooked from beginning to end!

I started Good Omens, The Princess Bride, and The Fellowship of the Ring, but never finished them. I own Ready Player One but haven't started it yet.

Looking forward to reading more!

that's a great assortment! hope you like the ones you've started!

message 1506: by Jenni (new)

Jenni "Blackrosefencer" (blackrosefencer) | 40 comments I wasn't crazy about The Fellowship of the Ring to be honest. But I was in like middle school or something so perhaps I ought to try it again now that it's been a few years. I enjoyed the other two. I always intended to finish them.

Bonnie 48 for me- or at least 48 that I read since I started Goodreads and rating books (I just counted the ones I had rated for ease.

message 1516: by Ellen (last edited Nov 12, 2022 05:52AM) (new)

Ellen | 871 comments After finishing the Nov club books I now have 9 left to read. I made it to about 53% on Weaveworld and stopped. Couldn't take another 300 pages of that. Now reading The Algebraist and it's a struggle. I looked at the No Spoilers thread from when the club read it and I'm not optimistic .

Kaia | 677 comments Finally getting around to responding to this one - when I joined earlier this year, I had read 75 books from the list. Since then, I've read 10 more (some of those were for BOTM reads). Looking forward to making my way through more of the past books as well as future BOTM selections!

message 1530: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I'm at 267, and while that's not exactly a round number, I'm happy to stop here for the year, because that means that at this moment in time, in December 2022, I have exactly 100 unread group books!

i just hit 225 which feels like a good end to the year!

message 1533: by cass ♡ (new)

cass ♡ | 19 comments I'm sad to say I've started a few and never finished some of them because I started reading these books when I started my first full-time job. I wasn't expecting the volume of work I had to increase and I never had time. Plus, when I got home, I unfortunately passed out in the chair while reading. :(
But now I'm adjusted and I'm eager to take on reading again!

message 1536: by Richard (new)

Richard (thinkingbluecountingtwo) | 447 comments Just a quick tally for the start of the year at 232 read.

My overall percentage still going down year by year, but at least I’m enjoying the homemade nibbles, goodies and drinkies in the clubhouse.

Good luck everyone in their reading challenges this year.

message 1541: by Mel (last edited Feb 02, 2023 07:45AM) (new)

Mel | 509 comments About two years ago I was at 57, with another 78 on my TBR.
Now I'm at 75, with 99 on my TBR.

So, not a big increase, at a little less than 10 per year. I'm sure if I really tried, I could even hit 100 this year. But I'm too much of a mood reader for such challenges. Clearly what needs to happen is that we need to start picking books exclusively from my Read list. That would help me out tremendously, thank you.

message 1542: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
lol Mel, I've been using that plan and it's been great!

Nice job, Chris, glad the robots caught that for you haha

message 1543: by Regalado (new)

Regalado | 7 comments Newbie here. This is the first year I'm being aware and keeping track of my reading. I've read 6 books so far this year and 4 of which ticks off the "SciFi Dec Challenge". I'm just having fun!

I'm glad there are people around here to inspire.

message 1545: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) 60, is that okay?

message 1546: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Kirsten wrote: "60, is that okay?"

Totally ok! Everything is ok.

0 is ok because you have lots to look forward to.

60 is ok because you probably have read some gems and are looking for more of which there are lots.

200 is ok because yikes, that is a bunch of books and you can start telling us which are the good ones.

I think the only number that is not ok is 151 since Christopher needs to read at least one more :)

message 1547: by David (new)

David L | 39 comments I have read 97, but I haven't registered them all in Goodreads since many were read before it existed!

message 1548: by Mattias (new)

Mattias (ximnipot69) | 3 comments I'm currently at 186, which is pretty good since I haven't really been trying to follow along or specifically read things on the list.

It would be cool to hit that 200 mark, but I'm not sure if I'll bother making that a specific reading goal or not. I'm sure I'll eventually get there anyway.

Get 'em in there!
It's fun. Just the other day I tracked down two more books I read as a kid and added them.
It also makes for interesting charts under My Books > Stats.
My favorite is "by publication date."
😅

message 1550: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6142 comments I usually put 1/1/1901 as the read date for books I'd read prior to 2010.
