Name: Dr. Chase Erhard Cane (a.k.a. Sugarcane, Cane & "Sync")Age: 44

Appearance: Cane is a solemn looking man, with dark olive skin that brings out his steel blue eyes. A full beard and sideburns display streaks of silver grey, betraying his age--though he moves with the strength and surety of a soldier or disciplined athlete. Broad chested and lean, two of Cane's most distinguishing features are the tattoo's...and cybernetics.
From head to toe an elaborately detailed map covers every inch of his skin--colorful symbols and logographic writing systems. Even the tips of his fingers, both pads and nails, display a seemingly erratic display of numbers, signs and emblems of lore. The most mesmerizing encircle his face, down to the Celtic Ravens tattooed on his eyelids.
Cane's left arm, both his legs and a partial section of his skull (including his left eye) are all B.E.T.A. replacements (Biological Encasement for Transformational Actions).
Drug/Past History: Recognized as a world-renown scientist in the field of Lysergic acid diethylamide, abbreviated LSD or LSD-25, Cane was responsible for cutting-edge research to develop legal versions of the drug. The original goal was to work under the supervising eye of the government to develop a method of reversing or overcoming the effects of nerve damage suffered by burn victims. Cane believed that acid could be used for more than just a semisynthetic psychedelic drug of the ergoline family. Well known for its recreational psychological effects which included altered thinking processes, closed and open eye visuals and synesthesia, Cane believed certain portions of the brain could be isolated and infused with LSD-25 to awaken nerve endings, promote hyper growth of dead endings and to over compensate for missing nerve endings.
In reality, Cane desired to test the outer limits of the drugs mind-altering abilities with the hope of developing permanent physical and hyper mental results.
Because of the non-addictive nature of Lysergic acid diethylamide, as well as conclusive tests revealing zero brain damage and extremely low toxicity relative to dose--Cane was issued a limited license by the Federal government to conduct extensive, isolated tests on human subjects. Unfortunately, Cane performed the tests but could not isolate the sought after data by staying within the guidelines of his license.
Secret tests were conducted, using in excess of 230 times the allowed chemicals. What was discovered remains a secret to this day. However, 92 out of the 113 subjects injected with the "Sync Serum" suffered from adverse psychiatric reactions including extreme anxiety, paranoia, and delusions.
67 of the subjects were found dead in their homes from self-mutilation, 20 were institutionalized, two suffered major strokes and two are in prison for multiple counts of murder. Surprisingly, the top 21 subjects continue to test 'normal'...but with certain side effects. All but five of the citizens are in military custody and are being studied by scientists. The remaining five remain at large and have been deemed extremely dangerous.
It is whispered that Dr. Chase Erhard Cane took the pristine results of all his tests and duplicated them on himself.
Sexuality: Dr. Cane is a highly moral individual and does not believe in procreation within our current society. Though he is a heterosexual, Cane abstains from physical contact whenever possible, especially with females.
Introduction to Ash: At the later stages of his own research, Dr. Cane was consulted on the development of Ash. This initially came through his unsavory connections with the drug rings used to secure chemicals for his own experiments. His advanced knowledge of the human mind and the delicate balance between the mental/physical equation made him a critical asset to the drug lords, who gave him the nickname "Sync".
When Ash was fully developed, Sync quickly became a liability. The Doctor was a high profile member of society, but more importantly--should anything go wrong, he was a critical asset that could be used at a later date. It was decided to hunt down Cane and subjected him to exile…isolated on Ashenya.
Goal: Cane seeks two things: Control and Revenge. He has far more up his sleeve than the drug lords realized…and a mind that has been perfected through his own drug development: FOCUS
