I think that Rhine's name is significant because she refuses to accept her fate. She wants more, and expects more, and she works hard to get it. Like the river, she is breaking society norms.
The question to think about is:
'Rhine. The river that, somewhere out there, has broken free.' What is significant about the meaning of Rhine's name? Do you see this significance reflected in the story?
Feel free to extend the discussion beyond the questions and simply talk about the book as well :D
