I have set up a poll with this month's nominations for the European Royalty read. Go check it out (click polls over there to the right or scroll to the bottom of the group's home page). Voting usually lasts until the evening of the 4th, but I set the poll to end on the 5th because I'm not sure if it will shut itself down right at midnight on the 5th or go all the way through the 5th. While I'm figuring this out, voting can just take place until the poll shuts itself down. Feel free to try to lobby for your favorite nominee in this thread, but I will NOT be counting votes from here - only in the poll. Enjoy!
***Note - Once in the polling area, if you click on "comments and details" in the lower right corner directly underneath the poll, it lists the authors and book titles so you can click on them for details about either one (especially good if you don't know what some of the books are about)***
I deleted November 1916 by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn from the poll because when I checked Amazon, the books available were just too expensive. Sorry I didn't catch this before I sent the email out! All the other books are available new and/or used at a reasonable price.
What is the price limit? I usually get my books from the library, but I do try to make sure the ones I nominate are available from amazon. Half.com had it for around $14 when I checked. No matter, November 1916 is the second one in the series anyway.
I only looked at amazon and they were popping up at around $50 a book. I should have looked at half.com (I usually do). $14 would have been fine if I had seen that! Sorry I booted your book :( At least the first one in the series is still up!
Oh, you were fine! I usually check the prices of books when they are nominated or at least prior to setting up voting (amazon, half.com if the book is only coming up used), but I forgot to check until after I sent out the email with the poll, so I only went to amazon and quickly checked prices there. It was my bad!
