Diane | 32 comments It seems that I always find myself amazed when I read a good nonfiction book. Moonbird lingered near the bottom of my reading pile until I was semi-forced to read it, and then, of course, I was amazed. The Moonbird of the title is this teeny shore bird called the rufa red knot. He and his ilk fly an 18,000 round trip migration route each year. Hoose uses thrilling language to capture the amazingness of these humble birds. The science part is equally fascinating, pulling the reader into the excitement of waiting for the Moonbird to arrive.

Jenni Frencham (jennifrencham) I agree with you, Diane, that this book was one that I looked at and thought, "Well, okay, I guess I'll read this random nonfiction book about a bird." But it was really good, and I ended up enjoying it, in spite of myself.
