☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾, Ahh! I can't wait to read the third book!

The break happened. No, not the plane breaking apart. That eerie silence that happens before something bad. After that break, the plane tore apart in a quick snap, and the outside velocity pulled the flight attendants and anyone who happened to be unbuckled or loosely buckled in out of the plane at a speed that would kill. Jayl was pushed against the seat as their half of the plane was launched in a different direction than that of the other and they plummeted, spiraling to the unknown below.
Erika felt wind whip around her entire body. She clamped her eyes shut and locked her jaw. If she imagined it was a roller coaster, it would be. She held onto the flotation device as if her life depended on it. And it did.
((They really do have floatation devices on planes, in case you thought I was pulling that outta my butt.))

((I've been in enough planes to know that.))
Jayl closed his eyes against the wind as the half plummeted down. It wasn't until the cabin crashed into the water that the actuality of the situation hit him like the icy temperature of the liquid that flooded around him.

((Okay, I got like, seven safety plane videos in a course of two weeks. So it's burned in my mind. O.o))
It felt like hitting a brick of cement, then falling into water. Erika fell face flat on her face. She started sinking, but she turned so she started floated up.

Jayl struggled with his seatbelt, trying to unhook it as the metal pushed him farther into the water. He saw other people struggling as well, but had to close his eyes against the salt in the water. He managed to unhook his seatbelt, then swim to the back of the plane, where it hadn't gone under quite yet. He coughed and got some air back from the bubble that was quickly becoming smaller, before he went back down. He had to find a way out of the plane.
Erika floated up and up, until she reached the side of the plane. She felt terror strike in her and she started kicking at the wall, unsure even if there was a window to kick. God must have been watching over her, though, and the next time she kicked, her foot went through the object. She turned her body and squirmed through the small window. Thank God she was small. She started to float upwards, and her closed eyes felt a radiant light.

Jayl wasn't as lucky. He couldn't find a way out with the rate that the cabin was sinking. He felt something kick him, and knew that another person was alive in there. He managed to undo their seatbelt, as well (which was the only selfless thing he'd done in his life) and brought them up to the pocket of air. His eyes still stung with salt, so he couldn't open them, yet, to see who he'd rescued, but it wouldn't matter in a few seconds.
Erika gasped as she reached the surface. Somehow, her glasses were still on. It must've been the pressure. She looked around. There was. . . Land!? She couldn't swim though. She knew how to ride tides, in theory, so she tried that. It worked, but barely. Why didn't she know how to swim!?

Jayl opened his eyes and looked around. He saw that the water was making a funnel near the edge. That meant there was an opening, right? He closed his eyes, took a breath, and dove into the whirlpool, letting himself be sucked out through the window and pushed to the surface of the water. He opened his eyes and coughed, then looked over at the person he'd helped. A little girl, probably 6 or 7. He let her catch her breath, before putting her on his back and swimming to the shore.
Flight attendants scrambled about, making sure everyone was okay. Blinkers were going off, the captain was saying something. But Erika didn't hear anything. She just heard her irregular breathing and her heart pounding. No, no, no. I'm too young. I can't die! Please, God, no! She begged.
