I LOVED Skipping a Beat. I was surprised to read so many negative reviews for it on Amazon. I think the protagonist is one of those polarizing characters that you either love or hate, depending on your own worldview. Did you like it?

Are there a lot of bad reviews? I really liked it, too! I didn't feel like she was polarizing at all, but pretty human - who wouldn't get a little wrapped up in that whole rich lifestyle and lose her sense of self, at least a little bit?? Particularly faced with how her marriage was quietly self-destructing when she and her husband had been this great team, totally dependent upon each other for so long... It was so sweet and so sad and really good, and I'm definitely going to read more of her books.
Tasks completed:5.1 – Liquor Store Blues: The Ocean at the End of the Lane (there is a company called Blue Ocean Liquors)
25.3 – 1st 3 Adds: Novel About My Wife - Emily Perkins, The Secret Keeper - Kate Morton, The Man from Primrose Lane - James Renner (these are not at all the first on my list, but they're all more than a year old and I have them on hand, so they sort of count!)

I thought she was very realistic as well, but some of the reviews I read thought the main character was horrible/too materialistic. But I'm with you. Once you've had that lifestyle, especially if you had started out poor and knew what that was like, it would be hard to willingly give it all up.

Ok, sorry. I meant to post the winner list last night but we had a lot of baking to do for a pot-luck at work today that was supposed to be tomorrow. And I can't get to the spreadsheet from work anymore because I guess my browser is too old. And before I call up our IT Dept to update it, I need a better excuse than, "I can't update my points spreadsheet for my online book group." LOL!
So I'll post it tonight! :)

Oh, I see. LOL! I do like the show too, I was irritated at first that it doesn't follow the books, but the more I watch, the more I like the life of it's own that it has taken on.
With these books, I would definitely start with the first one. It's just one of those series that you really should follow in order so you know everything that has happened. :)
