Help merging two non-goodreads authors - change rejected error message

I just got a new to me error message that the change I wanted to make was rejected; maybe I did not have access.

What I was trying to do if someone else can do is merge author Edited by A. Donny Strosberg with A. Donny Strosberg

The problem was the book didn't have a title. After adding the title I was able to merge the profiles.
