Mark Fletcher | 1 comments I just published my travelogue about the Lincoln Highway. The Lincoln Highway was the first coast-to-coast highway back in 1913 and in 2013 it turned 100 years old. So I took a trip and wrote a book about it.

This sounds intense and well-researched! Is there a romance element to it or no?

LoveVickyHolt LoveVickyHolt (vlholt) | 10 comments Hi, I'm excited to tell you about my debut novel 97.

I've created an ancient warlock race with evil intentions, a Warrior race that only wants peace, and a small-town girl with simple aspirations. The three converge in a small town in Oregon where sparks fly...not just romantic ones, but steel against stone.

LoveVickyHolt LoveVickyHolt (vlholt) | 10 comments Hi guys! I had a couple friends assure me that my book, 97, did not necessarily have to be classified as a romance. The adventure and the paranormal aspects are more dominant in the story. I got on here because I wanted to let everyone know that 97 is going on sale on Saturday for .99!

http://www.amazon.com/97-Rise-Battle-...

I love my story because it's a fun clean adventure with scary bad guys and a classic tale of good versus evil. I love my heroine and hero...they are kind and brave and filled with self-doubt. Enjoy.

Andrew Milner (andrewmilner) | 2 comments My first book was published in January 2013. It is called 'A Far Reaching Dream'. It is the story of a young lady called Kate who is visited by her boyfriend in her dreams. He died in a car crash on the night that she confessed to an affair. She is convinced by the nature of the dreams that he is trying to hurt her as revenge for her affair. Eventually she is admitted to a psychiatric hospital where she meets someone who begins to give her some answers. She then meets someone from her past that she didn't know about who has the final piece of the jigsaw of Kate's rather shattered life. However just as things are about to come together, something else happens.

It is available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle and also on my website - www.andrewmilnerbooks.com

Patrick Kelly (patrickkauthor) | 1 comments Hello, Friends:
I'm very excited and proud to announce my debut novel, Taking Jezebel. Here's a bit about it, and I hope you'll check it out.

At a beachside motel, a quarreling couple are the unwitting mainsprings of a terror that will change the future of all mankind.

Behind the walls of an isolated Arizona compound, an evil force is sprouting, creeping across the desert, and soaring toward California, where thousands will witness the first stages of a dark Order's earth-shattering vision.

A ragtag group of would-be heroes are unified by the special gifts they share. Together, they aim to root out the one man who would raze all the world's armies with a single, fatal word.

These are the characters who occupy the world of a novel whose themes are universal and whose subjects are taboo—fitting in or breaking the mold; free will versus destiny; good versus evil, and all the gray area in between.

Dare yourself to read
Taking Jezebel, a bold, harrowing, and dangerous debut.

Taking Jezebel
Taking Jezebel

Humbly,
Patrick Kelly

Note: Contains sex and mild swearing but is not a steamy romance about a sleazy Hollywood starlet. The characters portrayed are typical talented teen actors, not the rare out-of-control stereotypes like Lohan or Bieber.

LoveVickyHolt LoveVickyHolt (vlholt) | 10 comments 97 is an exciting and clean adventure of the paranormal variety. The reader meets small town girl Jane Burrows who is about as normal as they come, except that she's on the brainy and brawny side, as opposed to the popular pretty set at her high school. Then a new boy comes to town who has a mysterious air about him, and he is immediately interested in plain Jane.

Alternating chapters introduce a long-ago plot to overtake the world by five immortal warlochs.

The book has modern day technology, middle ages dark magic, and monsters that will make you shiver.

All of this, and completely clean...no sex, maybe four bad words the whole time. I've gotten 15 great reviews, and a 1 star review right here on goodreads by someone who doesn't like young adult paranormal. So I think that means my book is a perfect fit.

I just lowered the price to 2.99:
http://www.amazon.com/97-Rise-Battle-...

And just for fun, you can watch two book trailers I made for 97, that show the two stories that mingle together for one exciting book.

Save Me A Spot in Heaven is a true story written by Bailey Wind who barely survived a horrific car accident on 12/1/12 that killed her boyfriend and best friend. Her best friend's boyfriend survived as well. The accident received continuous media coverage for over a year as the driver of the car that hit the 4 teenagers was drunk, high, texting and speeding. On Dec 5, 2013 he was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to 58 counts. Bailey relives the night of the accident, her years of being bullied before and AFTER the accident. Tyrone Minnifield | 2 comments If you're into sci-fi with a fair mix of mayan prophecy, ancient mythology, aliens, government conspiracies, etc. take a look at my first book titled "The Great Keepers"

https://www.createspace.com/4582796

http://www.amazon.com/dp/149475603X/r...

What would you do if you discovered that there was a group who is charged with the duties of ensuring the survival of mankind? The Great Keepers hold this job and have done it very well for quite a while. Their job is also to shield the human race from everything that wasn’t meant for our eyes to see. The keepers have been around in some form since the beginning of man and they have played a major role to maintain the legacy of the human race. This is the same group that thwarted the Mayans, Egyptians, Greek, and so many other ancient civilizations from revealing the truth about the human origin. There have been so many theories as to the purposes of the pyramids that are spread throughout the world, the alleged tales of the so-called “Gods", and of course advanced civilizations frequently visiting the planet from some unknown location. With man unknowingly relying on this group to guarantee that their civilization lives on, what happens when “The Great Keepers” aren’t around for a while and outside forces threaten to push mankind into extinction? How will the human race survive when they are plunged into the dark ages and everything mechanical and electrical ceases to work?

Nesca, and I run our own indie publishing company called Screamin' Skull Press (which simply means we write, edit and publish exclusively our own books). We have many books independently published (18 all together)what I am showing here is just one example -
My style is at core similar to what writers like Henry Miller or the original Beats from the 40's and 50's might have done
I've included a link to our main web page and a short blurb on one of my books -

SCREAMIN' SKULL PRESS
PRESENTS -

HOBO
by Tony Nesca

Hobo is the sixth novel of underground writer Tony Nesca, a rambunctious, rebellious drunk-happy love story about a struggling writer who moonlights as a Night Watchman at a college located right in the middle of the ghetto. His wife is also a writer and together they publish their books and live a dual life of family and home with late night bohemian living, the whole time surrounded by an array of street-people, broke artists, and other fringe-dwellers. Sexually frank and charged with humor and desperation, Hobo is a unique work, a gritty celebration of life, love and individuality, written in Nesca’s classic free-flow-lyric, with words, ideas and sentences that go on for pages, alive and beautiful and unapologetic.

Lady Liza (lizdeewiz) | 1 comments Hello :) My coming-of-age Young Adult novel, Crippled Crows, is a story about horror, romance, and the steps one takes to escape the silence.

For Garreth Young and his older brother Edgar, every single day of their lives is a struggle to survive a painful game under their abusive parents' roof. Whether it's being beaten, burned, or starved, there's only one thing that keeps their hopes of happiness alive: Freedom.

But when someone takes the game too far, Garreth is left with the secret of that terrible night and the threat of death if he should ever speak of it.

Until eight years later, a newcomer named Alisha Bales moves into his rural Kentucky town. She offers him the chance to become someone braver, someone stronger, someone free. But facing his fears could be a lot more difficult than he thought, especially with the deadly secret he's kept for eight years... a secret he's finally ready to tell.

John Connors | 1 comments Hello, my book is called Elemental and was published last week as paperback and Kindle edition. It's aimed at children and maybe other people too! It's about 13 year old Tom Allenby whose parents move unexpectedly to the small village of Rooksbourne where he acquires a mysterious stone giving him powers over natural elements. He is soon under attack from enlarged animals, vicious plants and dead birds brought back to life. The more he tries to find out what is happening, the more dangerous his life becomes.
With new friends Amber – an older girl with a mystery of her own to solve- and Kyle – a lonely boy eager for excitement- Tom has to battle powerful forces to try and stop a threat to the whole world while seeking the truth behind the village.
It's the first in a series called Heart of the World and I'm hoping to find ways of publicising it that don't necessarily cost lots of money!
I had tried to get an agent but this seems a difficult task so have leapt out on my own!

Steven Simpson | 9 comments Hello, all! I just re-published my revised novel, Wizard Blues with CreateSpace and Kindle. See my description below.

I WISH THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT BEFORE I ENROLLED!
Twin brothers Ocean and Sky inherit magical talent and dream of becoming wizards. They thought they had it made when they enrolled at a prestigious university of magic on a remote island. On graduation day a path to great magical power is laid before them. There’s just one catch—they must give up their youth forever. They take the leap and become powerful wizards in the bodies of old men, but something goes wrong. Their disguise short-circuits leaving them young again—two very unconvincing wise old wizards. On the mainland they encounter a mystery: some invisible evil is killing the dwarves in a mountain mine. Can the brothers convince the dwarves that they are powerful wizards and uncover the secret of The Beast before they become its next meal? Lovers of epic fantasy will love this close-up view of the lives of two wizards, the joy and pain of having magical power and the responsibility that comes with it.

Enjoy

Marilyn Peake (marilynpeake) | 3 comments Hello,

I'm the author of several novels and many short stories. My latest novel for which I'm currently seeking reviews is SHADE, a Young Adult Mystery novel with Paranormal elements. Here's a summary:

Thanks to her offbeat mother, Shade’s full name is Galactic Shade Griffin. Having a name like that while being the new girl in school is pretty much catnip for bullies. The summer before Shade’s junior year of high school, her mother breaks up with yet another boyfriend and moves them once again to a new town.

This time, they move into a dilapidated old house where Shade has an entire attic bedroom to herself—at least until she discovers it’s haunted by the ghost of a teenaged boy named Brandon Yates. When Shade’s best friend goes missing, her life becomes even more complicated. With the help of Brandon who’s struggling with his own issues in the world beyond, Shade faces the question of whether or not she has what it takes to become a true hero.

Lisa Battalia | 5 comments I'm always amazed to see how many people are writing and publishing....I'll throw mine in the mix. It was self published last fall and the target audience is "new adults" -- apparently a hot new category being recognized/debated by publishers to reach readers 18-30 whose experience often falls between YA and adult literature. Here's the jacket description:

It’s 2011. A record hot summer. Robby just graduated high school and is working again as a lifeguard at the town pool. Popular, a star athlete, Robby’s feeling cut loose and left dangling since his mother died. Then he receives a unexpected call from his old science teacher, Dr. Thompson. Dr. T. introduces Robby to Kate. She’s also a former student, but with a clear plan for her own success. Could they possible fall for each other? Will either fall sway to Dr. T’s dire predictions of climate disaster, or his shocking request that they be prepared to save the human race? How would it feel to wake up to a devastated planet? To leave a world of privilege for one in constant competition for scarce resources? To live under the crushing grip of survivors’s guilt?

Lisa Battalia | 5 comments I'm just joining this discussion. I'm always amazed to see how many people are writing and publishing good work. My novel was written for "new adults" -- a hotly debated new category in the publishing world for books targeted for 18-30 yr olds who are often ignored by both YA and adult lit.

Thanks Lisa, its kind of you to say so. Your book sounds very interesting - an unusual & topical subject.

Katie Beitz (KatieBeitz) | 1 comments Hi everyone. I've just joined up. My novel is The Shadow Miner.

"At night, I dream of the light, of the sun and a sky so far away that it can never be touched and when I wake in the morning, and the day begins, I can’t shake the feeling that we were never meant to live in the dark."

Born into slavery in the shadow mines of the south, all Miri knows is a world of darkness until a terrible cave in frees her and she emerges on the surface and discovers the land of light. But even in the land of light, the shadows of the past cling and Miri must learn to take her place in the Great Story and help those around her to do the same.
