This book reminded me soooo very much of the "Maximum Ride" series even down to the dog. Unoriginal and a tad bit boring. Not even going to bother with book 2.

I read book one and two and I like the Maximum Ride series better. But just like Sarah stated you need to appreciate the differences. I would read another book by this author.
I loved all of the books in this series! I have re-read them like a bazillion times!
i have never read maximum ride so i thought the book was good and i can't wait to read the next one
Book 2 IS actually better.
You are right, though. Its very similar to the "Maximum Ride" books. I like both and really, to love them both, you need to appreciate the differences. After all, Tory is brainier than Max in some very special ways that makes Tory the perfect geek/hero girl meanwhile Max is kick-butt worldly-wise that makes her an all-around bad girl.
Tory is a sci-fi Hermione who just happens to whip the buttocks of criminals.
Max is, well, not.
