It's likely that it's the former ones, or people just don't care about the chat thread because their 1x1 are more interesting. Or perhaps the 1x1 groups consist of members that almost no one is familiar with each other so they don't come to chat threads or they just randomly clicks on the thread to read a bit and leave without paying the commenters any mind. ._.
