message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

there's one about 20 minutes from my house. I have a Wal-Mart that'll be opening on monday (finally) that's about . . . 10 minutes away, but with all the road work and traffic since it's one lane, it'll be 20 minutes - 30 minutes away.

no! DONT shop at wal-mart!! they use child labor!!

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

child labor???

message 118: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
i thought they just used illegal immigrants ... that's what my seventh grade english teacher said anyway. lol. she gave us this really long lecture about why we shouldn't shop at wal-mart. lol

i didn't know about illegal immigrants (which aren't really all that bad, actually) but i do know about child labor. wal-mart is one of the places that force children to make their products for them. so don't shop there!!!

message 122: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
oh i heard that about old navy too
unfortunately i can't live without old navy
in fact, now that i think about it, the entire outfit i'm wearing is from old navy ...

message 123: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
lol :D bad brigid!! haha. i don't really shop at old navy...i haven't been there in forever, lol. a lot of my clothes are from aeropostle, pacsun, wet seal, forever 21, charlotte reusse (sp?), those kind of places. i LOOVEE the mall!! :D

message 124: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments I like Old Navy. They have cheap flip flops. :) I remember in 6th grade, we watched a movie about Wal-mart... can't remember exactly, but I know they have Wal-mart companies in other countries. I think they pay the workers a really small amount of money... but I don't think I've heard the child labor thing.

message 125: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
well that's just what one person told me and it was some random kid ... so it's probably not true. lol.

yeah i do most of my clothes shopping at old navy. i'm afraid of malls. O.o ahhh ...

message 126: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
really? my sister told me about how wal-mart used child labor...and she learned about it in school. so, i would assume it was true...unless they've started teaching lies in school?? i wouldn't put it past them...lol

afraid of malls? how come? >< lol. i like going in malls, but only for a short period of time...if it gets too long, i start getting a headache...

message 127: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
idk ... there's just so many ppl ... so many stores ... and i, like, never have any money. so mostly i can only look at stuff and WISH i could buy it. *cries* >< lol

message 128: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments I love malls! Only, I get really tired because of walking so long... and I like buying clothes and things, but I don't like trying them on, so that gets tiring too. But then my wallet gets considerably lighter after a trip to the mall.

message 129: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
the other thing i hate about clothes shopping in general is that NOTHING FITS MEEEE!!! i have, like, the body of a ten year old. i'm so puny!! but i don't want to shop for little kids' clothes ... so it's like AGGGH!!!! oh and shoes?? impossible. once again, women's shoes almost never come in my size. >< agggh

message 132: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments But I'm sure you can find something. :) I know fourth graders who shop at the same stores I do. o.O And they still can fit in it.....

message 133: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Allison Lol. Poor Brigid. I wish I had your body type. I'd take anything over what I have. I'm so fat. I weigh like, 135 pounds, and it's all in my thighs.

oh come on brigid, you're WAY to hard on yourself!!

message 140: by Allison (new)

Allison You are. A lot of women would kill to be able to shop in kids, just to say they bought something there because they were small enough to.

message 141: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (lesmisarahbles) | 1 comments Depends. If I'm having trouble conveying a particular emotion I'll turn on something that conveys it.

message 142: by Allison (new)

Allison I constantly listen to showtunes while I write. Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Aida, Hair, RENT. Especially RENT. It's very emotional, and is about struggling artists, all eight of whom I feel a very strong connection to, and Jonathan Larson, it's creator. Rest in Peace, Jonathan.

I agree, showtunes can do amazing things to your creative juices. Especially Wicked. :D Oooh Aida, I remember that show! It's amazing. :D

Allison It is. I love Adam Pascal, so, I'm kinda like "OO, IT HAS ADAM IN IT! I'M LISTENING!" And I loved it, so now I listen to it all the time. Wicked is just amazing. Especially Idina Menzel. She gives me chills.

message 147: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) Oh man know! Defying Gravity is one of my all time favorites! Then the one For Good, I love that one.
*sighs*

message 148: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I just have to block it out anyway, so why bother? Everything gets blocked when I write. And I do mean everything.

message 149: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) I get like that when read. And sometimes when I write. People can b e3 feet away from me and screaming at me and it'll tke like forever fro me t hear them. But I like the music as a backround noise.

message 150: by [deleted user] (new)
