Salty was now inside the old shed. "You're safe now," he said. But Salty had been so busy trying to find a hiding place that he didn't realize they were in the haunted area where Diesel 10 and Arry and Bert were.
"I don't see any danger," Salty said.
But there was danger. It just wasn't in sight. Arry and Bert were still in the smelter. And Diesel 10 had moved into a larger shed that was straight ahead of the shed Salty was in.
But there was danger. It just wasn't in sight. Arry and Bert were still in the smelter. And Diesel 10 had moved into a larger shed that was straight ahead of the shed Salty was in.
Salty smiled a little as well.
Diesel 10 was fast asleep deep in the larger shed.
Diesel 10 was fast asleep deep in the larger shed.
"What's so funny?" Salty asked with a twinkle in his eye.
Salty chuckled. "All the other trains have the same buttons that I do. You don't have me only to play with. You got the entire gang of engines to play with."
Salty laughed. "Aye, my dear."
Salty was about to toot his horn, but then he heard loud snoring coming from the larger shed. "Wait....I think I hear an engine snoozing in that shed straight ahead," Salty grinned mischievously. He had no idea that it was Diesel 10.
Salty started forward towards the shed.
Salty was soon inside the shed. Diesel 10 was straight ahead of them, snoring.
Salty gasped when he saw Diesel 10. They had made a great, big mistake.
But Diesel 10 never heard. He was dead to the world; he was sleeping so deeply. He only snored louder.
But Diesel 10 never heard. He was dead to the world; he was sleeping so deeply. He only snored louder.
Diesel 10 stirred, his snoring ending in snorts and growls. But he did not open his eyes. "Arry and Bert, that's enough...." he mumbled. He thought Arry and Bert were the ones waking him up.
Salty held his breath. "Be careful, Annie."
Salty held his breath. "Be careful, Annie."
"The baddest of them all...." Salty was almost paralyzed with fear.
Then Diesel 10 opened his eyes.
Then Diesel 10 opened his eyes.
Diesel 10's eyes narrowed when he saw Salty. "You...." he said in his gruff voice. "What reason do YOU think you have for waking me up? And..." He paused when he saw Annie.
Diesel 10's eyes lit up with dark delight and curiosity. "And why are you here with a human?" he murmured slowly, staring at Annie with an evil smile.
Diesel 10 cackled evilly as his claw rose up and opened and closed. But then his claw dropped down and started hitting Diesel 10 in the face, as if it was alive and had a mind of its own. "Ow! Pinchy!" Diesel 10 cried at his claw. "Stop that! I hate it when you do that!"
Salty couldn't help but smirk.
Salty couldn't help but smirk.
Diesel 10 rushed after her before Salty could make a move. He made his claw reach out and grab her, and he picked her up.
"No!" Salty shouted. "Diesel 10, let her go!"
"No!" Salty shouted. "Diesel 10, let her go!"
"Not a chance!" Diesel 10 cackled. And with that, he suddenly raced out of the shed with great speed, and it wasn't too long before he was inside the smelter with Annie in his claw. He then began to go slower, going further into the smelter.
"Arry! Bert!" Diesel 10 called for his minions. "Come out, come out, wherever you are! I brought a surprise!" he cackled, lying Annie down on the tracks in front of him.
Arry and Bert came into view, looking sinister. They were delighted to see Annie.

"Where'd you find her, Boss?"
"She was with that good, soft-hearted diesel Salty," Diesel 10 replied in a distainful tone.

Diesel 10 looked down at her. "She's waking," he murmured to his minions, smiling evilly.
Diesel 10 cackled as he saw she was covering her eyes. "She's afraid....afraid to look at me."
Arry and Bert smirked.
Arry and Bert smirked.
"Might as well uncover your eyes, human," Diesel 10 said. "No reason for you to bump into things when you stand up."
Diesel 10 smiled wickedly as he sensed her fear.
"She's rather cute, Boss," Arry smirked.
"Small, too," Bert put in.
"Well, of course. We are diesels, Bert. Diesels are a lot bigger than people," Arry said.

"Maybe we'll play with you, maybe we won't. I haven't decided yet," Diesel 10 cackled.
Then Diesel came in.
Then Diesel came in.
"Yeah. Maybe carry you around in my claw and threaten to throw you in the pit." Diesel 10 burst into maniacal cackling.
Diesel rolled up next to Diesel 10, grinning slyly. Trouble was written all over his face. "What's up? What did I miss?" he purred.
"A lot, Diesel," Diesel 10 smirked. "You should have been there when I took this girl away from Salty. It was hilarious how she screamed and flailed."
