Kristin I finally got around to watching Breaking Dawn Part 2. Obviously this was a horrible film, but I will save that for later.

Here's my question: How could Alice show her vision of the battle to that (I'm blanking on the name here) bad vampire when she can't see the wolves in her visions?

Normally, I chalk these things up to a screen writer taking liberties on the original text, but in the second film, even the screen writer acknowledges that Alice cannot see the wolves in her visions.
(Which is the reason she believed Bella died and we had that Edward in Italy fiasco.)

There are so many plot holes in this series that this one doesn't surprise me. Stephenie Meyer repeatedly wrote around her own rules when the plot called for it, and she doesn't ever address them. So I would chalk it up to an error with the book. Blame the author.

I SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT ALICE BUT NO ONE CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J.C. They had to put some action into the film! I was so bored it wasn't funny and they new that the entire world would think the same thing! It was the only way they could think to put action into it and not actually change the storyline which was stupid to being with. I agree with Ida, Twilight doesn't make sense. There are so many holes that I really don't know why any of us bothered.

Tina J I actually liked Breaking Dawn Part 2!
It was Part 1 that was absolute TORTURE!!!

I agree that Alice shouldn't be able to see the wolves in her vision.....but the movie would've been a let down (for me!) without that fight scene.
Which I thought was quite clever how they portrayed it.

Despite the many plotholes, I have to admit, I do love this series!

.·:*¨ × Shannon♥Stelena&Bamon&Sydrian × ¨*: from her website;

Melissa Rosenberg and I have both mentioned the fateful dinner we had (back during the filming of Eclipse) where we hashed out a way to make the end of Breaking Dawn more cinematic. This was the idea we latched on to—how do we make this vision of Aro's into something the viewer can experience? The answer was pretty simple once we looked at it that way—we already had a character who could show us visions. So the only real change to the book ending of Breaking Dawn is that Alice enters the scene earlier, and comes in contact with Aro.

(Are there a few little trespasses against the mythology in this vision? Yes, as some of you have pointed out. The consensus was that a minor deviation from what had been established was forgivable in the name of entertainment. I had a few very elaborate solutions, but they were too confusing and not nearly as cinematic as the final product. And obviously, the result was very entertaining.)

Jen The movie versions of these books have been quite silly at times, but if you remember, Alice is feeding Aro a vision, so the wolves would be in there. She isn't trying to "see" the future of the outcome, she's showing Aro what could happen if the Volturi decide to attack Carlisle's family. If there's any defense of the storyline, that would be it.

@Jen

I haven't read the books in forever but even looking at it that way i don't think it would work. Plus later in the movie Alice has that vision of Renessme, Jacob, Edward and Bella altogether. But of course that's just my opinion:)

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

hmmmmm.....maybe?but isn't Aro only able to see what others see?

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

honestly i dont know if we'll ever know. personally i just think it was a cop out, they thought enough ppl wouln't care about the details. i loved the movie actually it was a lot of fun:) i was freakin at the end.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

i was like "wat the fuck wat the fuck???" rocking back and forth in my seat. i just kept seeing all the angry fans that would attack the entire Twilight posse for destroying the movie.
(though honestly i did kind of think it would be cool if like carlisle died)

I got the impression that Alice was seeing Aro's future based on the decision that she knew he made......not specifically the wolves' futures. She only sees them because they are in Aro's future. Same with Jacob and Renesmee. She only sees them because they are in Bella and Edward's future.

Miniwriter12 People make mistakes. Authors, like Ms. Meyer, are people as well. What do you expect her to do, make a list of rules for her series and look at it every second to make sure she's writing everything right? Although there might have been some mistakes, I still think this was an awesome series! She did her best, and I don't think a lot of people can writer better than her. In fact, she's one of the best writers in the world. :) Rant (if you could call it that) finished. XD

Ariana The problem for me was that it looked too fake. There was too much CGI and the way the music was seemed corny. It kind of ruined the movie for me because i couldn't concentrate on the big picture.

Replicant Rachel it's over, it was fun while it lasted, Get Over it already!

Actually, yes. If she wants it to make sense and maintain story logic, then she should. I understand just writing free form for the first draft. But then if you want it to all work together, you need to go back and make sure you're not contradicting yourself somewhere. That's why we have Renesmee, the walking plot hole.

I'm actually glad they changed things for the movie, because things worked much better there.

BubblesTheMonkey They're idiots. Anyone in Hollywood is usually an idiot.

so true!! The fact that they never get around to actually fighting in the book was a total let down for me ,so when i saw the fight scene in the movie i was ampted..

Diane Like Shannon already mentioned, SMeyer already knew it went against the established mythology. It was a trade-off between being faithful to canon and having a battle-scene. The entertainment value won.

I'm personally okay with it since it was the favorite part of the movie. It was refreshing that they could actually surprise (and shock, and terrify)the fans.

Sindy Thebomb wrote: "it's over, it was fun while it lasted, Get Over it already!"

I completely agree with you!

I didn't think this one was too bad, but I had that same problem with the wolf telepathy scene in BD pt. 1.

Lyssa Kristin wrote: "I finally got around to watching Breaking Dawn Part 2. Obviously this was a horrible film, but I will save that for later.

they HAD to do it!!! cause it won't be as epic, as it's opponent, Harry Potter series.

Lyssa Peace wrote: "i was wondering when they did have the battle at the end, in alice vision, but in the book it was lots of talking, if they were going 2 fight or not?"

no fighting in the books... its all in the movie... in the book, they just talked and showed the Volturi that Renesmee won't cause any danger..

Ashley Fritz Alice was just showing Aro that if you don't back down, it will come to this fight, so he needed to change his mind or not only would a lot of vampires and wolves die, but ultimately the Volturi would be ruined...I don't think Aro wanted to take that chance and Alice was just showing him, that he would never win...

I think this movie had so many plot changes because people wanted more action...I will always love the books and movies even if there were way too many differences between the two...

Itsmebacshi admit it, the movie was dull without the fighting scene

Well actually good point. I never really questioned it until now. Remember when Edward once told and I think it was Bella that Aro's gift is almost like his but he can see deeper, that's what comes to mind. I think I could see deeper into the vision than Alice could. Or the film people are just clueless enough to actually miss it and I am only calling them this because they totally mess up so much of it. I love Twilight but the producers, directors and what nots of the movies took out all the best bits out!!

Maybe they didn't read the book enough...sighs....that got on my nerves

Barb The only movie in this whole series that was good was the first one, Twilight. New Moon wasn't bad, Eclipse was meh, and I just won't bother myself to re-watch BD pt 1 or 2 ever again.

Marcy My big problem with that sequence was that it was inconsistent with all of Alice's other visions in the films, style-wise. I thought it was a fun scene to watch, but if you've been watching the whole series, you wouldn't recognize it as an "Alice Vision" sequence because all her previous visions involved quick flashes of activity -- you saw someone's foot as they stepped in the snow, then had a quick change to see a trio approaching from the mists, then another snap change to show someone's hair flowing behind her, just BAM-BAM-BAM -- and this one was actually a coherent scene, fully fleshed out. I had never considered that aspect of not being able to see future when the wolves were heavily involved in it, but it is definitely another inconsistency.

I maintain is one of the most fun scenes to watch, but for the filmmakers to create it, they really did have to deviate heavily from the source.

.·:*¨ × Shannon♥Stelena&Bamon&Sydrian × ¨*: @Marcy Good point but you have to remember that with different directors, all of them had different ideas and POVs of how scenes would happen, just like readers do.

I personally thought New Moon was the best out of all of them with Part 2 an close second. Twilight was terrible considering that's my favorite book (until Midnight Sun is published =P) in the series.

Besides it was aknowledged that they had to break canon rules for the wolves scenes.

Sindy ''childhood is the kingdom where nobody die''
That right there was SM's apology in advance for not having an action scene at the end of the book. However had they done that in the movie we wouldnt still be talking about it now would we?

Jacquelyn I actually thought the last three movies were fantastic! The first two were... well to put it kindly, bad.
EDIT""" and wait, wait, wait hold the mfing phone. I just noticed that OP said the first one was the best?! Have you READ the books?!!!! The first two were, now putting it bluntly, God Awful!!!

The first time I saw the final fight in Pt. 2 I was ready to stand up and scream at the screen! XD I was planning a strongly-worded letter to write and then... everything was okay and I was like "There you go Twilight critics. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!"
