I apologize for the delay. Grades are starting to decline so I haven't been able to read it. I just finished the first five chapters and I like it. It's a little bit slow, weird considering how quickly Twilight sucked me in, but I do have interest. Especially with the introduction of Jared.
Yeah it's a little slow in the beginning. It's like they just want to explain the whole world and even having read it twice before there are some questions i still have. I also totally understand about not having read that much so far. If you want we could do maybe shorten it from 5 chapters a day for a while?
I'm trying to keep up for you! I like her descriptions of the new society and how she describes the "wild humans".
Alright, so I just finished Chapter 10, which I should have last Sunday (super sorry) and I have to say I'm starting to really love Melanie and Wanderer as a body. They are so funny, always bickering! And it's curious to me how Wanderer, a soul completely separate from Melanie is falling in love with Jared and she thinks that they are meant to be together because they share the same body. Thoughts on this? Soul vs. body?
That's okay, I'm not very far in anyways. And yeah I really like Wanda as a soul, but some of them just seem like they are indeed not a soul and just see humans as a body to occupy.
I've read the book four times and each time, I love it more and more. It is honestly my favorite book of all time and I think everyone should give it a chance. The character, their relationships, and the bonds formed between them all is so beautiful.
Totally agree with you, Cassie, I first read it on summer vacation in Maine and I was like there's no way I'm going to finish this book. By the end of the week I'd read it two to three times. I just hope the movie doesn't suck.
Me, too. It's terrible that Jamie won't be in the movie, so they better work extra hard to make up for it and do it justice.
I know, I wish he was! I think they just needed to take him out otherwise the movie would have been too long and they decided they needed to focus more on Wanda/Melanie, Jared, and Ian.
I love Jared and Ian and I really do like Melanie/Wanda. I didn't really like Melanie at first because I wanted Jared to love Wanda, but when I saw Ian's love for her, I liked her at the end, by the time the book finished.
Yeah it really played with my emotions. Talking casting wise I don't know if I like Melanie/Wanda.
Oh, sorry! I didn't know you meant casting-wise :) Yeah, I agree. The girl, Saoirse Ronan, was not at all what I pictured when I was reading the books. But, she was casted for a reason, so I guess she must be a good actress.
Yeah, hopefully she's not another Bella though, and they don't make this into a whole sage. At first I was hoping Stephanie Meyer would do that, but I think the first books fine. Sure I'd love to see victory for the humans but I don't know how she would pull that off
Yeah. I think she's working on the next book, and if she is, I hope that it's half as good as the first. The only way I could think victory for the humans would happen was if Wanda and the surviving humans appealed to the Souls and got them to understand that even though the world is better with them in the human bodies, the humans still have a right to live their lives the way they choose, so then the Souls leave for another planet. I don't know, something like that.
Yeah that would take an awful lot of convincing. I read the Host a few years ago who knows if she'll actually come out with a second one it's been saying that forever. There's a title but not much else.
Rahh I just can't find the time to read it! I just got a job so I am going to have even LESS time! I'm sorry I'm a bad buddy! -foreveralone-
if she does more books, i don't think it should be about Wanda and Melanie. Maybe some other side characters? I'm re-reading it in prep for the movie, but i don't think i will finish in time. so much to read so little time.
Yeah it would be cool to see different POVs maybe even a soul. I really want to find out what happens with Ian and Wanda, but at the same time I don't know if it would be exactly interesting.
Okay... I'm 150 pages in... And I don't want to go any further... Does it get better? Because I'm trudging through.
