Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Do you have a classic that you think you should read, but can't face it because it's just too intimidating?

For me it is Ulysses. I look at it, occasionally I pick up the heft of it, then do something, anything other than open it at the first page.

Which book is lurking on your shelf, scaring the reading mojo right out of you?

Chris (calmgrove) It was Jane Austen, but I've just started Pride and Prejudice and am enjoying it, and am now wondering why I avoided her for so long! Male prejudice perhaps. Or pride.

~☆~Autumn | 3 comments My list is very long! I doubt I could even touch it. However, I must say that Goodreads has influenced me to read many that I had avoided like P&P. I even created a Listopia for all the classics I have been influenced to read due to being on Goodreads.

The Tempest
The Mysteries of Udolpho did try - too awful!Carmilla
