Billy Wong | 47 comments I specialize in stories about strong female warriors and what sets my writing apart (since there are plenty of strong female characters) is probably the way I embrace over the top action since I'm inspired by the old legends like Beowulf. Also my female warriors tend to be extremely powerful without needing to rely on magic or supernatural powers (or have them to a smaller degree), but instead dominate through sheer physical prowess and skill.

The MC of my Iron Flower series Rose for example is 6' 240 pounds as an adult and as strong as the strongest man on her continent (who's also her love interest), with superhuman resilience. She's covered in scars, wields a 30 pound sword with an alchemically treated lead core (which yes I'm aware is close to 10 times as heavy as a realistic one-handed broadsword) and wears 100+ pound armor. She's got a down to earth and friendly personality though, despite having killed thousands on the battlefield, and feels guilty when she thinks about the lives she's taken (though she keeps doing it in defense of her country/innocents).

BTW the first Iron Flower novel, Iron Bloom which is about Rose becoming a warrior as a teenager, is free on Smashwords through Saturday - if what you read above sounds interesting to you check it out here - https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Lori (lori_hayes) | 146 comments Thanks. I went and got it. Sounds pretty good.I'll review it but I got some catching up on reads and reviews to do for other writers 1st. I like strong female characters and it doesn't always have to be pharanormal. I read what I like. A bit of everything.
