Ohdie Hey Denisa! Never really played checkers my childhood games: Gambling Bingo, number games (aka dont say #8), Dominos, & Barajas (Spanish card game)

I like to use citrus scents like Clinique happy heart it makes me happy when I smell all lemony/orangey

Im good, juggling 2 books ATM my TBR apirl read and another longer e-book! Im happy to say thoough Im almost done with both! Besides that trying to finish my training so I can get my next licence and school ^_^ * pulls out dominos and deals them out- Even or Odd?* BTW do you play with 8's 9's or 10's?

message 154: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments I pick nines... we use to play double nine's and for years my brother heard there was a set that had double 21's and had over 200 pieces... He has only seen one set in his life and thoroughly loved playing it in the Navy years ago.. I know a lot of people have not heard of them and I'm not sure I could think fast enough so... how about the 9's?

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments I wanted to share this with everyone..
Please be aware and keep yourself safe:

Some new info that might save a life... Crucial Because of recent abductions In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation... This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading these 10 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in. 1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do! 2. Learned this from a tourist guide. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION! 3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives. 4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location. 5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage: A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.) 6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!) 7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern! 8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim. 9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door...' The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night. 10. Water scam! If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and then attack. Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbours! Please pass this on This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on America's Most Wanted when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know.. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle.. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well. Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it's better to be safe than sorry.. Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or love one's life.

(Okay, aside from the fact that I am a reader and author...)

I'm addicted to Mexican food--the authentic kind, not the Taco Bell kind.

I speak broken Spanish and listen to Spanish-speaking radio. I think I was Mexican in a former life.

I crochet.

I like to scrapbook (when I remember to do it).

I am also a Phantom of the Opera and Star Wars geek.

And I'm a Dekkie.

hey J.S.. glad you stopped by... I too love authentic Mexican food along with authentic Thi food.. which is hard to find... We do have a Mexican restaurant in our town that is and I love the tamales cooked in corn husk and and corn tortillas... it is own by a Mexican lady and her sons and she will let you come back and learn her recipes if you tell her when you are coming. She still likes to hand ground the cornmeal and has this big mortar thing..
I also like to crochet and do often in the evenings... I don't scrapbook but my daughter does in a big way...
It has been so nice meeting you... hope you come back soon.

I read about that a few months ago on facebook. New scam here in Europe in terms of stealing people's card information.

People are really careful when using ATM's looking out for signs of tampering. They are not so careful when buying bus/train tickets though and scammers have copped on to this and have moved on

I know people just aren't as moral as they once were or is it that we have a lot more people now? My mom sent it to me and I thought... I am one of those that sits in the car figuring my checkbook and the doors unlocked and NOt paying attention to anything.. it kinda scared me...

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments okay.... I found some wonderful writer's prompts from WRITER DIGEST... for the ones of you who write.. I thought you might enjoy them:
Here are the 7 Writing Prompts to keep you creative every day for a week. Enjoy!

1. It’s time for you and Writer’s Block to part ways. Write a letter breaking up with Writer’s Block, starting out with, “Dear Writer’s Block, it’s not you, it’s me … .”

2. You and your three closest friends decide to go camping. You arrive and set up camp nearly three miles away from where you left your car. Late that evening, as you sit around the campfire roasting marshmallows, one of your friends reveals a deep dark secret that turns what was to be a fun weekend into one of the scariest weekends of your life.

3. Two men stop you on your way into your local post office. One flashes a badge at you. They tell you about a top secret sting operation they are about to execute and they need your help. They can’t give you any of the details, only that you are to walk into the post office, go up to the counter with the gentleman named Bert working it, and you have to say to him, “My stamps are looking a bit square these days, if you know what I mean.” Write what happens next.

4. Pretend you are a recovering alcoholic who falls off the wagon while attending your high school reunion. Start your story with “I hadn’t had a drink in nearly 10 years” and end it with “If only I could remember where I left my pants.”

message 190: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments the rest are:
5. You’re cleaning out your garage and, hidden away in a back corner, you find an old shoebox. The box is heavier than it should be. When you open it up, you find cash—$40,000, to be exact. Where did the cash come from, who hid it there and why?

6. When you were little, you could swear there was a monster under your bed–but no one believed you. On the eve of your 30th birthday, you hear noises coming from under your bed once again. The monster is back and has an important message to deliver to you.

7. You’re late for work because you overslept, but your boss hates over-sleepers. He does love entertaining stories, so create the most outlandish excuse as to why you were late.
