Wolf waited for Robyn to do something...

Robyn nodded, fighting back a triumphant smile.

Wolf turned around and started walking out of the village.

Robyn followed him.

"We're just going to deliver something for the sensei. Just have to go through those mountains to the next village. Nothing else." He looked at the mountains. They looked dark and foreboding.

Robyn stared at the mountains. "Fun."

"Yeah, we'll just have to follow the path."

"I'll say." she muttered.

Wolf walked along the path.

Robyn's eyes darted nervously around, her fingers permanently on the tip of her sword.

Wolf quickened his pace. The faster he got this thing done, the better.

Robyn followed easily, trying to stay as quiet as possible.

They neared the mountains

Robyn felt a sense of dread fill her stomach.

Wolf stayed on the road. Soon the road went into the valley of the mountains. It was deathly quiet. Wolf felt that he was being watched.

Robyn did too, her skin crawling.

Suddenly a highwayman stepped out of the bushes to block Wolf's path.
"Greetings, traveler."

"Hello." Wolf replied casually.
"If you would be so kind to let us be on our way, we'd greatly appreciate that."

The highwayman laughed.
"Of course. But first, you'll have to pay a little toll to use this path..."

Robyn narrowed her eyes.

Wolf raised an eyebrow.
"Do I now? Since when did you own this path?"

the Highwayman was gettin impatient.
"Traveler, if you would just pay a little toll, I will ensure you a safe passage through these dangerous mountains."

Wolf sighed, playing along.
"Alright. How much?" he took out his pack.

Robyn looked at Wolf.

The highwayman smiled greedily.
"Let's see what you have." He reached for Wolf's bag.

Robyn unsheathed her sword as a warning.

Wolf let him search it. There was nothing valuable in there.
The highwayman's face turned into ugly dissatisfaction. He threw the bag onto the ground.
"There's nothing I want in there."

Wolf picked the bag up. "I'm sorry. I didn't know what you wanted. I guess we'll just be going then."
Wolf turned back the other way to find 4 big masked men standing in his way. He turned back to the highwayman.

Robyn looked at Wolf, ready to strike.

THe highwayman grinned.
"Once you go into my territory, you do what I want, or you don't ever come out again."

Robyn narrowed her eyes. "We'll see about that."

Wolf sighed.
"Your territory. That's interesting. The last time I knew this belonged to-" the Highwayman struck WOlf in the face, cutting him off.

Wolf turned his head back in the highwayman's direction.
"Did you just do that?"

Robyn gritted her teeth, forcing herself to remain calm.

The highwayman cracked his knuckles.

Robyn's sword glinted.

Wolf was about to punch him in the face, when the Highwayman held up his hand.
"I have archers all along the top of the valley. I wouldn't do that"

Robyn stiffened. She could take out the men without even blinking, but archers...

Wolf sighed. Then he kicked the highwayman really hard. The highwayman doubled over. The big 4 masked men grabbed Robyn.

Robyn struggled, but one had grabbed her sword.

A few arrows rained from the side of the valley.
Wolf ran over to the big men and stabbed one with his katana. The arrows, aimed at him, hit another man.

Robyn felt a knife prick the skin on her throat.

Wolf killed the last two men, setting Robyn free. THen he was hit with an arrow. The point pierced his armor and went a little into his chest. He grunted in pain, and fell to the ground.

THe highwayman came over with a sword.

Robyn snarled, grabbing her sword. She grabbed Wolf, and yanked the arrow out. She pulled him behind a tree, where he would be safe, then sprinted up the side of the mountain,

The highwayman ran after Robyn.

Robyn looked back, but didn't slow.

"SHOOT HER!!!!"

Robyn dodged arrows, desperate to get to the top.

The highwayman turned and went over to Wolf.
"Well, traveler, what do you think now?" He stabbed Wolf, but Wolf rolled away, so the blade only pierced his arm. Wolf shouted in pain.
