My book is entitled "Finding Frances...Love Letters from a Flight Lieutenant"; the true story of my Uncle Eric, a Royal Air Force pilot who travelled to Arizona in 1942 to train as a fighter pilot. While there he met and fell in love with 17 year old Frances McKenzie (he was 18). Upon returning to England he flew Spitfires and Typhoons throughout the war, all the time writing to Frances. Several years ago she gave me all his love letters. My book is not only a love story but an aeroplane story with an historical look at WWII. It is peppered with many photographs. Although there are graphic sex scenes between the young, married couple, the story is really about their struggle to survive the hatred of the mother-in-law for his wife because she is the descendant of a German Catholic. The setting is in Israel in the late 50's, not long after the holocaust and the memories of the concentration camps still prevail.

Greetings, authors. I would like to do an Amazon review swap. My book is "Fugue in Ursa Major." So far it has nine reviews on Amazon, all of them five stars, well deserved. I'm still not selling many books, though. "Fugue in Ursa Major" is apocalyptic science fiction. The book probably is too intelligent for its own good, it contains a lot of serious Socratic dialogue, and it is so heretical in its dim view of religions that it would provoke book burnings if it fell into the wrong hands. There is a restrained and tender gay subtheme. Sigh. No wonder I'm not selling many books. But I'm reminded about what Tolkien often said in letters to his publisher when he was writing LOTR -- that the book would have a small market, but that those who wanted that sort of book were starved for it. All I know is I gave out five or six free copies last month. I was told they would review the book and I have yet to get anything back. And what really bugs me is. You go on here or amazon and you will see book that's been out for one or two days and it will have 40 plus reviews. Makes me wonder???

I completely agree. I've given away copies in an swap exchange and even bought copies from customers to review. I've held up my end but always get burned. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it.
