You sold 10,000 copies and you have 16 reviews? And none of those reviews discuss what the book is about. Very generic. Per Amazon your rank is 603k. How is it so high with that many sales? Impossible. Getting reviews work, that's how people decide to buy your book. You're not having any sales, why not just try it?

Gypsies came out in 2010. First sale was for a book signing--not with Amazon. Amazon is not the only outlet for books, despite what many authors believe.

I don't think Amazon is the only outlet, but when you DO use Amazon as an outlet you have to use the marketing tools that work with it. The same thing doesn't work for everything. And book reviews work for getting sales on Amazon. How would you know that it doesn't work? Have you tried it? If it's just what you THINK then you should say that, because it discourages other people for you to make such a statement as if it's factual.

I'm just not convinced that swapping reviews is of any consequence. If I write a middle of the road review of your book, will you write a ten-star review of mine? And what is it worth? A review can tell an author a lot about his or her novel. We all think we write better than the next person, but we all can't be right.

I tried to get your book, but it's not available on Amazon US in Kindle. I tried to get it from Amazon UK, but was told it was not available to US, and unfortunately, the print version, at $12.00 is too expensive for my $1.99 swap. I'll wait until you have it available on Amazon US.

Great thread going here! I am an author of contemporary romances, some with suspense elements. My reading tastes are fairly eclectic. I'd be interested in swapping reviews...as long as I swap with someone at least likes contemporary (Had a bit of a fiasco recently, giving out a book to review to someone who isn't even a fan of the genre...)

I'm fascinated by the concept of "swapping reviews". Does that mean trading good reviews, or is it random? What's the value of a review one has purchased from another writer? If a review is comprehensive, it can tell you a lot about your book, and maybe the next one will be better.

As far as I'm aware, the reviews on Amazon for indie books are for the Kindle version. Reviews for the printed copy need to be on the Createspace site. So, if you bought the printed copy and then tried to post a review on Amazon, that is why you are blocked. If you bought the Kindle version then you could post a review.
