UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments As you read, I'd like your first impressions of both Lady Georgette and James McKenzie. Are they typical historical romance characters? What do you think of their...predicament?

No, and in this case it's a good thing. It's a fresh idea for a historical romance but I don't think just anyone could pull it off. I really liked Georgette and James. Their circumstances were indeed odd and I think it was handled nicely. Light-hearted but not too silly.

I think their characters pretty mcuh like standart romance chick flick, but the author did a good job to incorporate it in that era. I really like Georgette and James, and other characters as well. I see that the author laid a good foundation for series :)

Giulia | 1756 comments Finally, silence. I adore my nephews, but they make more noise than a class of 20 students.

All right, so Dhestiny asked about the predicament that James and Georgette find themselves in. I personally love storylines that are "ridiculous" like this. Where you have a character who's returned from the dead, or a couple that finds themselves suddenly thrown into a marriage. Basically where they don't expect to be together, but are and have to muddle their way through romance while they are married. Julie Garwood does this a lot in her historicals, and I love it. That's what initially attracted me to the novel (that, and I have a highlander thing big time). I wasn't expecting that they would spend so long finding each other however, or that James' memory would be so badly affected, so that was a nice twist for me. Was so glad they finally found each other though! That's when it really started getting good for me. Oh, and I thought Georgette's character was really ....kick ass let's say, for the day :)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Just a few chapters in. I will be honest and say, even though I love amnesia themes (I know, I know! I'm a nurse and should NOT, but it is my guilty pleasure.), I was rolling my eyes over both of them having a problem with their memory. LOL! Still, loving this set-up and the fun of it all.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I think many of us today underestimate the women of yester-years. History shows us, however, that there have been exceptional women throughout history. While a feisty and independent thinking woman might not have been the norm back then, they did exist. Nowadays we strive to teach our daughters and sons that women are equals and can do the same as men.

message 140: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Very true. The Human Race would be extinct if women were total wussies back then.

message 141: by Giulia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Giulia | 1756 comments I agree, I think there have always been exceptional women who were independent. I also think they had to be extremely smart (sneaky smart at times) to circumvent society's rules. What I found really interesting about Georgette was how open she was about not wanting to conform to society's ideals of womanly behaviour. There was something about the way she approached this that I found refreshing.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 257 comments Just starting ch 4 and have Met both georgette and James. I can't wait to find out more about James and why he's considered the "wild one" of the family. I don't link the cousin, Randolph. I think the fact that neither can remember what happened and James's money being missing is related.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 257 comments Excuse my typing. I'm on my iPhone in car line waiting for kiddos lol
