It's an awesome book

message 252: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (deathserum) Usually, the books I read I end up liking. It's always the books I have to read for English or Literature that I end up disliking. The worst book I've read for class so far is Wolf on the Fold by Judith Clark which I had to read last year for my year 9 exam. I didn't understand the flashbacks and flashforwards and the concept and the plot was very confusing.

message 253: by Emily (new)

Emily (creatorlimbs) I hold no love for classic novels. I can acknowledge that they are good enough to consider reading but often find myself confused by language and concepts that are presented within the metaphors put forth. This can mostly be blamed on my English teachers in high school I suppose - but lets not blame anyone. Classic lit is my bane, which leads to my least favorite book I've ever read: Of Mice and Men.

I don't know what it is but everything within the book just seems so...unnecessary.

I bet one out of 5 scientists would disagree.

Seriously though, that is pretty gross. I think I would have to give up on any erotica containing a word like that. Membrane is not really synonymous with erotic in my mind either...

Emily Craven (emilycraven) | 21 comments Forest by Sonia Hartnett. Don't do it, tension all the way through for the crappest ending of all time.

I hear you, Shakespeare makes no sense to me.

message 260: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Do people really read a whole series when they hate the books? Not trying to start a fight here...just curious. If someone absolutely HATES the Twilight Saga/Stephanie Meyer's writing style…why would you read all four books? I could see maybe two...

message 261: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneyreads) "Beautiful Disaster" WAS a disaster to me. There was no real plot or point to it, I stopped after 70 pages. I know many people would disagree with me but I actually thought that the main characters were annoying.

Thanks for responding :) you should just flip through the last books so you won't end up being mad at yourself. Or ask someone on Goodreads what happens ;)

message 264: by Angie (new)

Angie (strangersights) Ok, I have a new least favorite book- Waiting for Odysseus by Janell M Ramos. I have been trying to struggle my way through it, got to 77%, and I just can't do it anymore. What a bunch of ostentatious crap.
It's nonsense with no discernible plot, shallow, completely moronic characters, and it made me want to crawl into a cave somewhere and die. Apparently this book is supposed to "sweep us deep into the human heart and soul" and be "courageous and oftentimes voyeuristically honest". Failed. It's just ridiculous. It's been a long time since I could honestly say that I truly hated a book. I truly hate this one.

Rincess | 24 comments Haha, just checked out the book you just mentioned. So far, it has the lowest rating I've seen here in goodreads. Lol

Terrible amount of hate there. Accept the fact some people might like them. I loved those books when I was a kid, and right now even if I don't think they're the best books ever written, I still enjoy them.

message 268: by Becca (new)

Becca Nyx | 4 comments I struggled through, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I figured out how the book was going to end just a few chapters into the story. I didn't read the other two books.

I also haven't read very many "classic" books. I refused to read "The Scarlet Letter" in high school and looked the summarized version on the internet so I could get through the questions about the book. I've tried reading, Dracula, The Time Machine, and Fanny Hill, Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure and all three are shelved until I'm out of reading material.

I love horror, fantasy and thrillers, but it seems the trend is romance now.

i agree with you, completely.. its hard to find a decent thriller these days(without romance overpowering the plot)

Olivia (ice-cubey) | 21 comments For me, I think it was the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. Usually I make myself finish a series but a couple chapters into Passion and I just couldn't.

Deborah | 42 comments Anne wrote: "I tried listening to Dragon Tattoo and it put me to sleep every time."

Not a fan, either. It shouldn't take 60 pages for a book to get interesting. I have friends that loved it, though.

message 284: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) I read 'The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo ' series and enjoyed it. I know it's a bit slow but I don't mind reading long books. Also, I know this is ignorant...but I only found out recently that people still listen to books...I just assumed that had died with the cassette tape...

message 285: by Anne (new)

Anne | 32 comments Audio books are still here and thriving. A boon for me when my eyes got too bad to read even large print. Now I have my Kindle, but sometimes I sill like to listen to a good book.

I thought the first 1/2 of the first one was slow, but after that I enjoyed it also. I have the other 2 books, just haven't gotten to them yet!

message 288: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) Keep on them Melissa. I found them rewarding.

message 289: by Betsy (new)

Betsy | 1 comments The Edge of Never is probably the worst book I have read in recent years. I kept reading in the hope that it would become believable/interesting but alas, it was all for naught.

message 290: by Joanie (new)

Joanie Dugan (thealaskanyoung) Probably Twilight...good god that is one bad book.

message 291: by Gowtham (new)

Gowtham Gauti (GowthamGauti) | 5 comments the worst book i have ever read is 50 shades of gray..! Definitely..that is one stupid book..the entire series is bad..i mean who wants to read a book full of pornographic scenes..there is no story at all in the books ...!some people said the 2nd book was better but it was worse..i didn't even bother to read the 3rd book..Fifty Shades of GreyFifty Shades DarkerFifty Shades Freed

message 292: by Shay (new)

Shay (fluffyskittles) | 2 comments I gave up on trying to read the House of Night series. It was like reading the first draft of a already poorly written book. It has the writing style of a 8th grader with the plot of an adult book. BAD COMBO.

And 50 Shades of Grey (yeah, I don't care to even write the title properly)...just no. I grabbed it off the shelves, read the first 10 pages and then put it down. It's everything I hate in my smutty books. Poor characters, terrible writing style, constant re-usage of words and phrases, and just bleh. I've read better chick porn online. Save your money folks and browse the interwebs. Trust me. You'll enjoy yourself more. Haha.

message 293: by Christin (new)

Christin (namalia) | 9 comments Hm, The knife of never letting go I'd say. I just couldn't get into it and gave up after 30 pages. That dog just drove me crazy. And of course 50 shades of grey. I didn't like Twilight so why would I like a badly written Twilight fanfiction? Stopped reading after chapter two.

message 294: by Mandi (new)

Mandi (mandicoyne) 50 Shades of Grey. I couldn't even finish the book because I couldn't stop both cringing and laughing at the absurd inner monologue of the main character.

well i did read the series of the house of night too and the first two books were ok, i did like the type of book it was going for but then it got soooooooo horrible and i couldn't read it any more :/ i didn't think it was believable and just seemed like bull.

Back to the lord of the rings for me because at the very least it was very entertaining, believable, adventurous and HAD amazing couples in it!! Lord of the rings forever

yeah i knows O.O so cringey DX there are better ways in phrasing paragraphs than what was written in that thing - i mean if your gonna write a graphic book like that at least use words that hint to the fact of whats happen rather than flat out describe to the point where it makes you uncomfortable. i don't know if it's just me or what but i would find it a better book if it wasn't sooooo graphic cuz at least then you could use you imagination.

I agree. If I want every single detail spelled out for me, I'll watch a movie. People read in order to picture things in their own way in their heads. This is why the book is always better than the movie, but hey, maybe this book will be the exception since EL already spelled out everything anyway.
