The worst book you read
It has to be House Of Night. like a lot of people i loved the first books but then it became so painful to read I had to stop myself from burning it hitler style or something. And also The Vampire Diaries. what a bore!
the giver, and liar are two of the books that i wish i could unread
The immortals series and the golden compass.
right now... Shiver... and the House of Night series. Just plain horrible.
I hated The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Otherwise, I'd have to agree with some of the others mentioned in this thread like The House of Night series and the Twilight Saga. (What even was the plot of House of Night? It's just so bad I don't understand.)

I am on page 158 of "Fool's Errand" and I am bored to tears. Should I give up? I had bought all three in the series because it initially looked good, but now I'm regretting that decision. nothing has happened so far except a lot of reminiscing. Any thoughts?

Of course it depends on how dire it is, I just checked on Amazon and if you took my advice that would mean over 150 pages to read. It is however entirely up to you!
miss peregrines home for peculiar children, i couldnt even finish that book i was so bored. or the whole immortal sereis (evermore, blue moon, etc) those were just not written well in my opinion and i just didnt like them.
I agree, I never finished Mrs. Peregrines home for peculiar children. And I honestly did try to read it, I went halfway through before I gave up. It was too boring.
Thanks Jacky. I might give it a few more chapters. The writing is good, don't get me wrong, but at some point something's gotta happen.

Hush hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Breathless by V. J. Chambers. Prelude to Hemlock by Steven Vivian. There's more but probably can't remember them all.
I think the worst book I have ever read was "Lord Jim" by Joseph Conrad. I had to read it for a class at college so I had to power through with it. I just found it very boring but the topic is just not to my taste. I won't criticise the writing though- Joseph Conrad is one of the greats.
I think the worst book I ever read was Ceremony. I'm not certain who the author was because I read it back in the early 90s. But basically it's the story of a Native American boy on a reservation. After that it gets fuzzy because it is written in no particular order. Very frustrating as a teenager. Would I like it now because I have more patience? I dunno.
The worst book I've ever read was A Discovery of Witches. This book had a great plot but I never finished it because I got bored before page 200. I was very disappointed.
Twilight was the WORST book(s). I made it through 3 1/2 books in the series. Good thing I read a lot, and quickly, so it took less than a week and I was done with it all. Jane Austen is also proving to be a huge pain in the rear. I want to re-write all her stuff and fix all the darn run on sentences.
Alright...heres a new subject:How far into a book that you are hating should you read? How many pages do you have to finish so that you can say you gave it a fair go?

no matter how bad a book is I finish it just to give the ending a chance. however the only book I could not finish was pride and prejudice. I read just over half of that book and couldn't get myself to finish it>_< arghh
Darlene- I feel the same way about Roberts but my mother and sister said "try the Death books! you'll love ' em" . I read the first one Naked in Death, got through it, but I'm done with the Roberts/Robb circus. I did try though

By Michael Medved.It was a Christmas present....i was bored one day....and i most certainly regretted opening the book and proceeding to read it after the first 30 pages. Although like always even though i absolutely was in Physical Pain from how ignorant and Hypocritical the Author was being,Even though he tried his hardest not to come across in such a manner he failed miserably btw... i couldn't stop reading simply because i must always finish a book i begin for some unbeknownst reason.
i never thought u would read a book that i didnt like as much as i didnt like twilight but then i read evermore by alyson noel.

I'm reading Frankenstein right now for English class, and I hate it. I hate it so much. It might either be my prejudice against Romanticism but mostly because I hate the creature. It's predictable, it's annoying, and too sentimental.

But I actually hated Frankenstein more than his monster, he is just so whiny.
I haven't read it, but somebody on GR was discussing crazy pricing for books on Amazon. When I went to check on one, The Shadow God, it was panned as being the worst book ever by almost ever review. Except five 5* reveiws that are so obviously written by the author himself. I did check out some of the "look inside" feature and yes, it's bad. Really bad. But the reviews are hilarious so that was worth the three painful minutes I spent scanning the actual book. And I use that word losely. At least I didn't spend $74.50 on the paperback. (no, I'm not kidding...that's the price)As for how far I've made it into a book before I quit, I recently made it to page 3 and stopped reading a book. I won't say what it was, because it may not be a bad book. I just couldn't read the disgusting descriptions of skin lesions people were experiencing. I have seen many a dead body in my day and plenty of stomach-churning things in my line of work. I just don't want to read about it on my day off...
Definitely Pride and Prejudice and Zombies!Pride and Prejudice is such a great book that Mr Darcy and Miss Bennett relationship does NOT benefit from the addition of zombies.

Mrs. Dalloway. I don't know how many times I put this book down and said "no more". I read it for my book club and that is the reason I finished.
Am I the only person who didn't like this book? I managed to claw my way through each part before the corresponding film came out, but it was an effort.
"Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. I know it´s a classic but i just didn´t like it because it was so boring...

I have been reading Moby Dick for a hundred or so years I lost count. Also anything by Charles Dickens. But I like his tone (Dickens) so I will finish him! But Moby D...the guy is an evangelist & besides that he's a great writer
Probably for me would be Loving Summer. It was basically just a rip of off The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is one of my favorites. Apparently the author has done this with other books too.
THe Immortals series pick anyone. dont like the characters don't like how it is written and god it annoys me SO much

.This was literally the first time I have seen so many grammatical errors in one page and the entire book had me "like really, really". No doubt an amazing idea, but horrible execution.

Boleyn Wife by Brandy(or Emily) Purdy.
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I have never been able to finish this book. It just bores me!! Heathcliff throws the 'mother of all tantrums.' And Cathy is simply stupid...The only good thing-I loved the song by Kate Bush.

I have to agree with you on Wuthering Heights. My idea of a good read is not a couple so in love with each other that they constantly abuse each other.

We're both in agreement. I can't understand how anyone can describe this as a great love story? When Heathcliff is a sadistic monster and Cathy a silly, spiteful nitwit.....It all ends badly I Know because I did watch the movie, but have never finished the book. So classic or not I refuse to try again lol.
