I read The Conquest of Lady Cassandra by Madeline Hunter and Lord of Darkness by Elizabeth Hoyt over the weekend. Loved them both in different ways.

Now I'm working on The Autumn Bride by Anne Gracie. Good so far!

message 4: by Erin (new)

Erin H I'm still working on At the Bride Hunt Ball by Olivia Parker...I'm loving it so far I just wish I had more time to finish it! I'm hoping to read The Spy by Celeste Bradley!

message 6: by June (new)

June (ladyjune) | 146 comments Currently reading The Hawk. It's great.
@Nora have you read other Bridgerton books? The Viscount Who Loved Me is so much fun. You should try it of you haven't read it

I read the Conquest of Lady Cassandra , which I liked, and Lord of Darkness, which I loved. Now reading the new Kristin Higgins. Once again feeling like she writes two books--one where the heroine has to look like an idiot all the time and one where something really touching is going on. She drives me crazy. It's possible to be funny without making the heroine look dumb and occasionally she manages it and then her books are great
So I keep reading...

Irisheyes | 896 comments Finished THE BEST MAN by Kristan Higgins and really liked it. I've tried others by her and just couldn't get into them. For some reason this one clicked and if I'm not mistaken it is the beginning of a series - always a plus in my book! I will definitely be reading her again.

Also finished LORD OF DARKNESS by Elizabeth Hoyt. A good read and as always the tidbit about the next book is very interesting.

Not sure what's next. I'm thinking of starting AUTUMN BRIDE by Anne Gracie too, Manda. She's always a sure thing for me. I also have the first couple of books in Shannon Stacey's Kowalski books on my Kindle. I sampled the first one the other day and want to keep reading. Has anyone read this series. What did you think?

I also wanted to read Madeline Hunter's latest Manda but I couldn't get through the last one by her and I'm a little gun shy. You liked this one, huh?

hi Irisheyes, I just read Exclusively Yours the other day. I think it's nice. Gracie's Autumn Bride is wonderful, I think it got similar Meridew sisters feel there.

Hey, Susan, Are you sure this book goes for Y ? Isn't it for C, L or F?

Anyway, I just finished Joss Ware's Night Resurrected and it was great ! I loved it!
Not sure what next, maybe the latest from Alexandra Hawkins ...

Elizabeth (ajax16) | 55 comments I am having a slight crisis. I have so many books to choose from, and I cannot decide which one to read. Anyone have any recommendations?

message 14: by Phoenix77 (new)

Phoenix77 | 346 comments I've got two books lined up for the week. The Temptation of Your Touch by Teresa Medeiros and And the Miss Ran Away With the Rake by Elizabeth Boyle.

message 15: by Amber (new)

Amber | 161 comments I have The Temptation of Your Touch on my to read list so you'll have to post if you like it or not. I haven't heard about the Elizabeth Boyle one, but it sounds fun. I'm reading A Night Like This and so far loving it.

In one of my other online books clubs, members made their "To Read" list public or friended members of group so we could choose for them based on their "To Read" lists. As you are in crisis (been there) might I suggest, Elizabeth Holt's Maiden Lane Series, I especially loved Scandalous Desires. I also really enjoyed Julia Quinn's Ten Things I Love About You, among others, but that's a really good stand alone. Another favorites of mine are A Matter of Class. I also enjoyed the Pink Carnation series from Lauren Willing, especially The Masque of the Black Tulip.

Just to name a few. Hope that helps.

Hey Irish,

I definitely think the new Gracie feels like the Merridew Sisters. It's got a lighter feel than her previous Devil Riders series. I'm enjoying it.

Re: The Conquest of Lady Cassandra, I found it much more readable than Hunter's last one. (And you know I'm a dyed in the wool Hunter fangirl, so I hate to say a bad word about one of her books. But the first one of this series was pretty dry.) This one has one of my favorite hero types (the amusing rogue) and pairs him up with a scandalous lady. The result is a pleasurable read.

yes, YOUR Arms count as a "y" in the title

message 21: by Irisheyes (new)

Irisheyes | 896 comments Thanks, Manda. I'm a diehard Hunter fan too and that's why I was so saddened at my inability to get into this new series. I'll definitely be getting THE CONQUEST OF LADY CASSANDRA and giving MH another go. I've read everything she's written and only one other book was slow going for me, LESSONS OF DESIRE.

I just finished Gracie's AUTUMN BRIDE and thought it was very good. Can't wait for the others in the series.

Jennifer's debut was excellent. I really enjoyed how the story took place within a 24 hours basis. I didn't really have any problems with how the story moved along Although there wasn't any love scenes till the end of the book if anyone way wondering, but the strong attraction was there. I Loved it~ it definitely worked very well for me. Few problems for me, Jennifer has a great talent in telling their story and I can't wait to read more from her.

message 23: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dlecroybeaver) Finishing Always on My Mind by Bella Andre tonight. Then it's on to Thrown by a Curve by Jaci Burton. I'm liking Always on My Mind, but don't think I will rank it as my favorite of the series. I'm not sure what's in store for the weekend. I started the Stephanie Laurens Cynster series a couple of weeks ago and may read one more of those.

Laurens' Cynster series is Amazing~! I'm waiting for her next book And Then She Fell to come out by the end of this month. I just love them Cynster males :)

Thanks, June. Just finished AUTUMN BRIDE and really liked it. I'm onto EXCLUSIVELY YOURS now.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished the second of the Some like to...series of stories by Carole Mortimer. I noticed that she calls her male characters Devil, Lucifer etc., A bit of a rip off of Stephanie Lauren's Cynster series if you ask me. And the heroine was such a wimp I wanted to shake her till her teeth fell out, I like my heroines with some backbone.

Amber I really enjoyed it. It was a little slow to start and I'm kicking myself for not reading the first book of the series to get more background about Max’s character before. Yet I liked where both H/h were coming from and how they each found strength in one another to move beyond the pain in their pasts.

Erin H I finally finished At the Bride Hunt Ball by Olivia Parker and I loved it! Also read both The Spy and The Charmer by Celeste Bradley, they weren't my favorites in the series but they were both enjoyable in their own way.

message 31: by Kym (new)

Kym | 206 comments So far this week: The Best Man, Silent Revenge, A Scandalous Affair, A Passion for Him, and Don't Tempt Me. The latter 2 are 3rd and 4th of Sylvia Day's Georgian series. Now I'm listening to the first. Nobody says things HAVE to be done in order! ;)
