Tripped over a problem with adding my books

I'm extremely new here, like the last 5 hours. I've got a few books to add, and somehow managed to add the book, but not to the list of my books. What do I do?

Maybe on your "My Books" page you are looking at an accidentally clicked shelf instead of all books/shelves? (Click shelf names or all at left column)I see two books on your "read" shelf.
Oops, sorrry. Wrong "My books". Let me check your author profile and give me the book title (book issues get posted over in librarians group usuually but I've spotted you here so will try to sort it out. Usually it's a stray space or character in author name throwing it off).
Yours is the author profile with two spaces, so when adding books in author field where ^ is a space you should enter "Paul^^Wallis."I think I can tell which books are yours so moving over. Let me know if I missed one or added the other Paul Wallis books to yours.

Oops, I'll move back. The series moves with the books but can persistently display thumbnails on your author page for quite a few hours.I'm then signing off for the night so if other book specific or series issues/adds need help, just post over on librarians group.

It is frustrating for you once an author name is wrong because you can only edit your books ... worse being the one space Paul Wallis since that one will catch everything (okay, not as bad as Robert Johnson or David Brown with more than 50 similarly named authors). Goodreads just keeps adding a space....I didn't see a librarian note on the other Paul Wallis. Adding, then signing off.
Well, I tracked down the other PW and it turns out he's an archdeacon of an Australian parish. Seems like a nice guy, too, so not much chance of my being mistaken for him.
