AHHHH! This cannot be! I mean.. the Forbidden Saga doesn't come close to Harry Potter. I'm not a very big H.P... buff, if you can call it that... BUT I very widely disagree. In my opinion it is a big fat LIE! All that S.M has, is a bunch of sparkly, perfect vampires and a needy, whiny human who's asking to get killed. Not mentioning the many plot-holes and... horrible-ness of vampires. How they can go out in the sun and only drink animal blood? Freakin' vegeterians... *Grumbles something*

But what's your view on this?

message 2: by Giggles (new)

Giggles they both stink there are seriously nobodies i hate them their books arent that great even though i havent read any harry potter books and i dont plan to

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I know... Of course, Twilight only gets sold so much because of Patterson-what's-his-face... You know, the dude who plays Ed in Twilight? Grrrr...

Luna | 871 comments AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! TWILIGHT HAS GONE TOO FAR THIS TIME!

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

They have gone too far.. I agree completely.. Eh..

message 6: by deliabookworm (new)

deliabookworm | 49 comments there is no point in comparing Twilight and HP b/c like courtney says, HP is sooo much better, it's in a different circle from twilight.

message 7: by Melyssa (new)

Melyssa | 52 comments They're not even the same type of story! Gaaahhh!!

Besides, when comparing JKR and SM, JKR is by far the better writer and storyteller. SM just repeats herself and has no plot in her books. She fails.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Here's where you can read the Time's article on it:

message 9: by Madysen (new)

Madysen (vaiyala) | 142 comments Meyer wrote twilight in three months flat.

Well, at least we know now why the thing's so bad. LOL

It's never quite clear whether Edward wants to sleep with Bella or rip her throat out or both, but he wants something, and he wants it bad, and you feel it all the more because he never gets it. That's the power of the Twilight books: they're squeaky, geeky clean on the surface, but right below it, they are absolutely, deliciously filthy.

Really now? =\ Maybe it's just me but I've never found anything "deliciously filthy" or forbidden about Twilight.

The only forbidden thing for me in there would be the fact that the skin of a killer is sparkly.

NOW THAT'S FORBIDDEN! >.<

Okay... maybe that's not the only thing that's supposed to be forbidden in that book in my point of view... but that's definitely at the top of my list!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

"It's never quite clear whether Edward wants to sleep with Bella or rip her throat out or both"

Hm... I hope it's the second one.. I really do..

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Edward: Bella.. I can't, I can't sleep with you!
Bella: Why.. why not!? *Cries, but swoons at Edwards PERFECT looks*
Edward: *Broods* Because... Because... I GOTTA RIP YOUR THROAT OUT!
Bella: Oh, no! *Runs away, trips on random object and gets her throat ripped out*

WHOOPEE! ^^

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you! ^^ I try.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, and 'Bella' means 'Beautiful' in Spanish or something...?
Soo... Bella Swan??? That's bleh.
And 'Edward' means happy, prosperous or a guard... Cheeeeeeeeeeesyyyyyy... Bleh.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Super protective and a super wimp.. *grumble*

I have this friend who is absolutely MAD about Edward... She looks for pictures of him on the internet 24/7... They should BAN the Forbidden Saga.
I'll stick to the vampires who follow 'Da Rules'. xD
Like the ones from Underworld or something.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm ostracized from the community because I hate it! It's despicable! xD

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, a HUGE part of my school thinks I'm weird because I actually READ, and not because I have to...
And I read books WELL beyond my age group... I even tried reading 'Paradise Lost'. That was a disaster.. xD

message 19: by deliabookworm (new)

deliabookworm | 49 comments before reading breaking dawn, i actually kinda liked the series, and got all my friends hooked on it which i feel really really bad about. Then i reread the series and realized how horrible they are...so now i hate the twilight series.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Breaking Dawn is a SAD, sad, sad attempt as softcore porn. I've read it, and felt sick. Well... Twilight is a disgrace to the vampire community - but I guess we all know that.. if we didn't, this board wouldn't exist.

message 21: by Luna (new)

Luna | 871 comments Courtney wrote: "Yeah, All my friends think I'm weird too cause I actually like to read. I also read beyond my age level. I was reading Young Adult when I was like 7 and 8. And even now I'm 13 and I read Adult book..."

same here, so I have to keep my mouth shut when my friends read books.

message 22: by Luna (new)

Luna | 871 comments What do you think SM thinks the moral of breaking dawn is? That losing your virginity is a very good thing? Cuz after reading her books, u would totally think that thats the message she wants to send to the world

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

And apparently, English "mothers" really take to that moral... You wouldn't believe how many english 18-20 year olds I've seen with up to three kids..

message 24: by Melyssa (new)

Melyssa | 52 comments Not to mention that the only guys worth falling in 'love' with are the ones that look like models and are rich. Looks and money. SMeyer has issues.

message 26: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicapineda) "I really think that's the underlying metaphor of my vampires," she says. "It doesn't matter where you're stuck in life or what you think you have to do; you can always choose something else. There's always a different path."

Hardly. Rice said that the metaphor of her vampires were the true monsters within our human selves. Meyer degrades the true nature of vampires to some wet dream of a schoolgirl.

Rice's bloodsuckers are frequently perverse and amoral

Hardly (yet again). The morality they believe in is simply different from the human norm (Well duh, they're VAMPIRES). And considering that this is the true nature of vampires, it's Meyer who is straying from the point.

What makes Meyer's books so distinctive is that they're about the erotics of abstinence.

There is a very fine line between beautiful, literary erotica and smut. And Meyer has crossed it. Rice's books can be erotic yet metaphorically beautiful. Meyer just tries (and FAILS) to write softcore.

Meyer just destroyed feminism and morality. Bella Swan giving up college, her family life and friends just so she can have eternal and submissive sex with a 117-year old virgin. And also so she can sparkle with him. Yeah, Bella sure is the role model for our generation.

message 27: by deliabookworm (new)

deliabookworm | 49 comments In a way, Twilight is a metaphor for how weird guys are. And how unnerving going to meet their families, and keeping up the relationship is. I don't really like this particular analogy, though. The relationship is fake.

~ EpicFroggy ~ *Loves Tweedle-Dee!* (bengali208) | 160 comments I personnaly think the so-called "Twiligt Saga" is all plot to take over the world!!!! JK, but seriously, it's scary how many people Stephanie Meyer has "sucked" (no pun intended) into her books. I almost became one ofthem, but I saved myself before I became addicted. This is NOT a book any self-respecting Christian girl should read.

I know this is late, but Bella is beautiful in Italian. My brother is Italian and wants to name his daughter Bella Ray (Bulawa). I think it's kinda pretty, but I still don't like S.M.'s Bella.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah, sorry for the mistake. It is still... cheesy, that she used 'Beautiful Swan' as the name of one of her characters... And since she's all so popular and every boy is falling for her in school... well it's just stupid.

~ EpicFroggy ~ *Loves Tweedle-Dee!* (bengali208) | 160 comments Oh, I agree!!! Wait, I thought she wasn't populer..... Or are you just being sarcastic..... I'm a bit slow in that department, sorry.......

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Well.. not popular, ok, I agree, but since every single boy is throwing himself at feet.. *Ahem*.
I'd like to blast her head off with a shotgun.. If she was real. xD

Pfffft.....Jacob must have missed that little memo. He had NO choice. How convenient.
