THANK YOU. That's why I have trouble not falling asleep in English.

I bet it means that lovely things can happen in December, like having oranges and holding your girl's hands and giving out chocolate.
My guess is that the oranges represent his nervousness (emotions) and sacrificing something of his own for his "love."
Gary Soto did write a story we had to read in English called Girls. It was quite humorous.
I must read that.

Sister: can you pass the nectarine bowl? *points at bowl filled with fruit next to me.*

That's mine.
Sister: Your bowl is BIGGER than the serving one!
Sister: can you pass the nectarine bowl? *points at bowl filled with fruit next to me.*

In English, we are doing poetry. So, we had to pick apart poems with the soapstone method, etc.
The poem my group had was "Oranges" by Gary Soto.
We were thinking of what it could mean, and hit dead ends. So we basically had a ton of crazy theories. Have any of you read it, and know the secret meaning?
