Makayla divergent!

message 452: by Maddie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maddie 1. Divergent
2. Hunger games
3. Matched
Divergent was far better than matched by a long way and the hunger games is nearly equally as good but the ending ruined it for me.

Samantha 1.Divergent
2.Hunger Games
3.Matched
Matched was ok but i didn't like the third book. Hunger Games is very good but the writing itself on the third book wasn't all that great. Then Divergent. I love this series! Some people aren't gonna be happy with me for this but I think that that was the only end that Tris herself would be content with. If you've read the books than you know Tris. Would she really just be happy with growing old and dying? Personally, I don't think so. She was made to be a hero, that's just who she is. I think Divergent is the best because it fits the path the characters would actually follow if they were real human beings.

Josie 1. Divergent
2. Hunger Games
3. Matched

I thought that all of the books were really great but Divergent would HAVE to be my favorite.

message 455: by Lavi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lavi I liked them all but Hunger Games is my favorite by FAR, divergent next and match last.

message 456: by Katlyn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Katlyn So, So, So, SO Divergent.

MommyDearest If you're comparing the whole series then Hunger Games wins. If it's book for book, Divergent wins. Insurgent is right on par with Catching Fire and Allegiant is horrible. The worst book of all 3 series.
I do like Matched though.

message 459: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn Dreher 1. Hunger Games- I loved these! I read them as they came out, before they were popular, so I could form my own opinions of the characters and the story. The movies are great too.

2. Divergent- I thought the first one was great, and the second one was good, but I personally didn't like the last one. It slowed down, and nothing unexpected or exciting happened.

3. Matched- I couldn't really get into these, and I never completed the series.

message 460: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary My parents won't let me read divergent (against my will) and I love both the hunger games and matched, but I like matched better because:

1) The hunger games has way too much violence

2) Katniss doesn't recognize her feelings for Gale

3) Matched has cleaner romance

4) Matched was written by and lds author

Sadia Ali Warning: super opinion rant~
Hunger games. Sweet, short, and simple. Well, actually, none of those. I've really taken to disliking utopia/dystopia after having to read so much of it in middle school. Divergent came out when my hatred began after hunger games was hyper inflated, so I never came to reading it and never will. I'm gonna throw The giver on as number one and call it a day, along with Fahrenheit 451.The classic dystopian stories beat all of this new stuff.

message 462: by Olive (new) - rated it 5 stars

message 466: by T.L. (new) - rated it 4 stars

T.L. Coulter Hunger Games and Divergent are equal in my book. I love them both. Matched while started out promising, didn't do it for me in the end. It wasn't a bad story, I just don't think you can read Hunger Games or Divergent then read Matched. Had I read Matched first, it may have been different. As for the question of Xander or Ky? I would pick Ky.

Tuesday @olive you mean don't put Matched against sucky books like Divergent and Hunger Games?Matched is what made me start to love read ing so please don't insult my favorite book.

message 468: by Lilly (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lilly 1. Divergent
2. Hunger Games
3. Matched

Xander or Ky?? I would say Ky. I think I had more of a connection with Ky's character than Xander.

soverymuch Hunger Games

annaesj 1.Hunger Games
2.Divergent
3.Matched

Xander was really sweet but I have to go Ky.

Tuesday If you finish the series you might have a different opinion, at first I said Ky but when I finished I said Xander.

message 472: by Mariah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mariah Guyot C'MON PEOPLE!!
WHERE DO YOU'RE LOYALTIES LIE?!?!?!?
here are our choices

Hunger games
Divergent
Matched

The pain and agony in all of them for the amazing characters the serieses (not sure what the plural for series is) killed off were intense. If you have not read EVERY SINGLE ONE of the books yet, then don't read this, because it lists most of the heartbreaking deaths.

In Matched we have India, her dad, and V-what's-his name. The one in love with the girl Xander went with. I read it a year ago, and I've read over 40 books since, so I can't remember everyone who dies.

In Divergent we have Will, Uriah, BEATRICE, Tori, her parents, and on and on.

In The Hunger games, we have Finnick, Prim, Gale's family, Cinna, Rue, and on.

Honestly though?
I think that the story line in the Hunger games was expertly thought out, if pretty darn sad as well. It calls in to question how far people will go for what they believe in, and if there really is always a "good guy" or "bad guy". Many of the supposed bad guys were either psychopaths, or had second thoughts later on. Many of the good guys turned out to have other motives, or took the destruction of the capital too far in their anger.

Tuesday @mary hey I'm lds too and I also love matched

swampbooks Patrice wrote: "Divergent is definitely better than them but i thick the legend series is the bomb"

i agree; thats my favorite series

Abigail W I loved them all! Definitely can't decide so oops useless answer coming through!

Dierdre The hunger games cannot be touched nor should it share the same category as divergent and matched. All three were good books but the hunger games deserves the highest praise by far!

Phontanett Foster well hunger games wasn't all that good to me but some of us vote the movie better i believe the book had wayy better details so in my mind i had my own types of settings

and in matched i was a lil confused but after a while i read crossed then reached but for some of you that haven't read i recommend it!

Divergent was the Best chicago based book i ever read and sorry to say but for me i think the book and the movie are tied and i rate it 5 stars.

Also, divergents my favorite out of the 3

message 485: by Sterre (last edited May 17, 2014 09:40AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sterre Wow difficult choice, I loved both the Hunger Games and Divergent a lot, but if I really have to choose I guess I'll go with this:

1. Divergent
2. Hunger Games
3. Matched

Matched was much easier to decide on, because even though I really liked the first book, the second one wasn't as good as the first and I barely got through the third one
By the way did anybody else think that the third books from the Hunger Games and Divergent were a bit disappointing?

message 486: by Sulla (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sulla hunger games, divergent, matched

Elfflame I'm fond of all three, but here's my ordering:

1. Divergent
2. Matched
3. Hunger Games

I haven't read the rest of the Matched series, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the first.

message 488: by Julia (new) - added it

Julia Zubko 3) Matched
2) Hunger Games.
1) Divergent.

message 489: by Joshua (new) - rated it 3 stars

Joshua They're all typical YA dystopian romances. To be perfectly honest, YA dystopian is getting really unoriginal. I'm kinda tired of it.

message 490: by Bronwyn (new) - rated it 1 star

Bronwyn O'neil I hated Matched, but I really like both Divergent and The Hunger Games

Phontanett Foster Mostly 90 percent of this book talk is agreeing on the vote of

1)Divergent
2)Hunger Games
3)Matched

Natalie Hetro Divergent and Hunger Games tie for first place.

Isabelle 1. The hunger games
2. Divergent
3. Matched

But i I didn't hate Matched. It was just not as awesome as THG and Divergent...

message 494: by Nicole (new) - rated it 1 star

Nicole DIVERGENT BEATS ALL

message 495: by Maeve (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maeve #1. Hunger Games
#2. Divergent
#3. Matched

It was a really hard decision between THG and Divergent, but i knew from the start that Matched would be last even tho i did enjoy it. But i DID NOT like book 2 (Crossed) of the Matched series at all so i didn't even read Reached because i was done with that series.

message 496: by June (new) - rated it 3 stars

June Divergent ans Hunger Games. I didn't really like Matched.

message 497: by Elshaddai (last edited May 26, 2014 11:28PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Elshaddai Lemma 1) hunger games
2) matched
3) divergent

I think i'm the only one with this combination :D hahaha. I've only read the first book of the divergent series, but the movie kinda ruined it for me. I've also heard that the third book is not good, and this was from someone that absolutely LOVED the series! so yea.

I have to agree with you on hunger games! Number 1. But i did not like divergent at all, and matched was alright. I'll admit it kinda got boring after the second book but it was still alright :) I dunno

message 499: by Lisa (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lisa Tobleman This is going to boil down to what sort of science fiction thriller you like. Hunger Games and Divergent are very similar, kill or be killed soldier type heroines. Matched is similar to the Giver, Uglies, or even Le'Engal's Swiftly Tilting Planet: the hero is introspective and self referential. They are looking within for the solution, and fight with their minds or protest the only way they can.
